Song Parodies -> "A Weekend in June"

Original Song Title:

"An Evening in June"

Parody Song Title:

"A Weekend in June"

Parody Written by:

A Kansan

The Lyrics

A slightly different version of my previous parody, "Two Evenings in June".
A weekend in June,
Kansas takes a vacation on
A weekend in June,
They go to the occasion of a "thrill",
Church fair makes me ill,
Smart ones number nil, each one is a loon,

A weekend in June,
Their father's in the limelight on
A weekend in June,
The devil's smiling looking up above,
I keep thinking of
What these two could do, 'cause they're both in tune,

See brainwashed children playing
On slides they call, "I beat them all",
Maybe I am complaining,
But I don't care, I don't like this fair,

On a weekend in June
Bounce houses are inflated on
A weekend in June,
Don't spend the rest of your life feeling blue
Over what you'd do,
Back in '22's failed weekend in June!

...and with that, this “weekend in June” has finished. The “Germanfest” event is now over, and it went out exactly as this parody described. I did NOT attend, just to be clear. There were probably at least a thousand people there, which I think tells you all you need to know. I would have liked to see “Germanfest” cancelled three years in a row, but that didn’t happen. Hopefully at least some people read my parodies and decided not to attend. By the way, I saw several pictures of children at the event this year, and I couldn’t help but wonder if any of them will look back on this decades from now and think what a wonderful experience they had. I doubt it. At least this site got an Irving Aaronson parody out of it. So I hope you took my advice to “stay inside this weekend” and listen to “Dancing in the Moonlight” by Ben Pollack. If you did, you'll never regret it. There’s not much more to say, so I’m going to leave it at that.

One of my favorite recordings by one of my favorite dance bands. A great parody about a local event that had no point whatsoever.
