The Lyrics

Just a nonesense song that I made up while humming the tune because I'm addicted to it. Just thought I might share.
There once was a man, in a house he did dwell
Lillibullero bullen a la
And this run down house, he made it his hell
Lillibullero bullen a la

He'd sit and he'd gripe the whole day long
Cursing his lot and singing this song:
Lero, Lero, Lillibullero
Lillibullero bullen a la

A hermits life they young man did lead
Lillibullero bullen a la
For his spelling was poor, and hardly could read
Lillibullero bullen a la

He never went to the country balls
Though handsome he was, and slender, and tall
Lero, Lero, Lillibullero
Lillibullero bullen a la

Then one spring day as he bathed in his tub
Lillibullero bullen a la
He stood up to dry and tripped on his scrub
Lillibullero bullen a la

He fell to the floor with mighty a bound
And broke his fair head, with many a sound
Oh, Lero, Lero, Lillibullero
Lillibullero bullen a la

He hauled himself to the kitchen door
Lillibullero bullen a la
And fell on the broom that lay in the floor
Lillibullero bullen a la

Ne'er was pain as readily felt
Not even as bad as his father's belt
Lero, Lero Lillibullero
Lillibullero bullen a la

When he thought the worst was at end
Lillibullero bullen a la
Lightning on high to earth did descend
Lillibullero bullen a la

It burnt his house to to sodder and ash
As well as the sack with all of his cash
Lero, Lero, Lillibullero
Lillibullero bullen a la
Now this poor man, he lives in a hole
Lillibullero bullen a la
This likes of which he shares with a mole
Lillibullero bullen a la

But one strange twist in this story must tell
More happy he is, than before in his hell
Lero Lero, Lillibullero
Lillibullero bullen a la

Without checking, I think you are the first to ever use this tune here. Reminds me of some days I've had recently. One of those great old rollicking melodies. I hear it a lot at British Royal celebrations even though the original lyrics refer to some of their ancestors as an ass or a dog. Congratulations on your originality and a nicely done tale of woe.
