The Lyrics

Paramount Television's 1975 logo, known as the Blue Mountain, is also quite infamous for a scary jingle, which actually originated in 1970 on the previous logo. Paramount had actually made a sing-along Noveltoon in the 1960s featuring "Big Rock Candy Mountain" as a matter of fact, called Hobo's Holiday.
One evening on television
As the broadcast of Happy Days ended
At the end came a scary logo
It was blue, we comprehended
The word television came from right
This was no youthful fountain
Stars circling all all round
The Big Blue Scary Mountain

Yes, the Big Blue Scary Mountain
Is at the end of this show
It also follows Family Ties
I just want to let you know
It's also on Mork and Mindy
And on Laverne and Shirley
It is also on Cheers
For its first five years
The New Odd Couple
Also Matthew Starr
Ends with Big Blue Scary Mountain

Yes, the Big Blue Scary Mountain
Has a fanfare composed by
The one, the only Lalo Schifrin
This fellow is my kind of guy
In some years it's marching band
In others it's horn-driven
Whatever the case
Turn your volume down
I'll tell you that you
Won't like the sound
Of the Big Blue Scary Mountain

Yes, the Big Blue Scary Mountain
It lasted for 12 years
From '75 to 8-7
It's something you must fear
It was on seasons one and two
Of the show called MacGyver
It's on Bosom Buds
And on Taxi too
You can find it on Brady Brides
Yes that is true
It's the Big Blue Scary Mountain

Yes, the Big Blue Scary Mountain
Had an alternate song
From 1976 to
78, you're on
This jingle wasn't as scary
It's by Jerry Goldsmith
It sounded like
A western theme song
It was majestic
It sounded so slick
On the Big Blue Scary Mountain

I'll tell you now you must beware
Of the Big Blue Scary Mountain

Nice, but the mountain itself is not that scary. It was the creepy detective music for what became known as the Paramount Closet Killer Logo that scared people. Maybe the zoom might frighten some very young children, but I lived through it fine. Myself and others have done this topic before. 555!

Re the mountain: Hodkinson during a meeting with Adolph Zukor. It is said to be based on the memories of his childhood in Utah. Some claim that Utah's Ben Lomond is the mountain Hodkinson doodled, and that Peru's Artesonraju is the mountain in the live-action logo, while others claim that the Italian side of Monviso inspired the logo. ~ Wiki
