The Lyrics

In the Lord Of The Rings, Gandalf suggests (though it is not known for sure) that Sauron learns for the first time about the Shire and hobbits when he catches and questions Gollum. This scene is not directly reported in the book, so my guess is that it probably went something like this:
[Smeagol]
The Baggins who carriesss the Ring, gollum
Lives over that way in the Shire
And he hass a nasssty Elvishhh Sssting, gollum
A nassty Elvishh sort of thing, gollum
We hates him, the thief and the liar, he's
A nassty hobbitual liar
And he's got the preciousss so that's why I sing:
It's Baggins, the hobbit who carries the Ring

Gollum, gollum, precioussss
Gollum, gollum, precioussss
It's Bagginses carriessss the Ring
Gollum, gollum, precioussss
Gollum, gollum, precioussssssss
Precious is gone
Gollum

[Sauron, lord of darkness, evil creator of the one ring]
The Baggins who carries the Ring, tra la
Will shortly come under my power
I know that my Nazgul will bring, tra la
That what-ja-ma-call-it "halfling", tra la
And before me he too will soon cower, yes
When he comes up here to my tower
And that's why I wriggle and giggle and sing:
Oh, come to me, Baggins who carries the Ring

Tra la la la la
Tra la la la la
Oh, Baggins who carries the Ring
Tra la la la la
Tra la la la la
Tra la la la
La la

:-)
Arwen - I originally wrote this with a menacing sort of Sauron, but couldn't come up with a suitable "Tra-la" substitute... then I saw a trailer for "The Producers", and thought a camp Sauron could work a la Mel Brooks' Hitler. The mental image made me laugh, too..

Wonderful work, Phil. I loved how you put the gollums in at the ends of Smeagol's lines. 555

Sweet Indigo - I see you've been revisiting some of my old stuff :-) No, I didn't read Irregular Webcomic, but I think I might from now on. Thanks for that.
