Song Parodies -> "The Spammers Who Tell Me I'll Win"

Original Song Title:

"The Flowers That Bloom In The Spring"

Parody Song Title:

"The Spammers Who Tell Me I'll Win"

Parody Written by:

Phil Alexander

The Lyrics

This one is about the sort of letter you get that says "You have definitely won one of the following prizes: A yacht, £10,000 cash, a new car or a holiday worth £300. Phone this £1.50-a-minute line for five minutes to find out that your £300 holiday comes as vouchers with so many strings attached they look like spaghetti..."
NANKI-POO:
The spammers who tell me I'll win
Tra la,
Breathe promise of merry sunshine.
Think of watching the money roll in
Tra la,
And our plutocrat times will begin
Tra la,
Eating caviar, drinking French wine,
Eating caviar, drinking French wine,
So pick up the 'phone and then pour me a gin
And call up the scammers to find what I'll win
Tra la la la la,
Tra la la la la,
The spammers who tell me I'll win
Tra la la la la,
Tra la la la la,
Tra la la la la la!

(I SHOULD) KO-KO:
The scammers who tell you you'll win
Tra la,
Have nothing to give you at all
They ain't in it just for the fun
Tra la,
They'll take all your money and run
Tra la,
And then set you right up for a fall,
Yes they'll set you right up for a fall
So calm down and ruefully say with chagrin
"Oh, b****r the scammers who tell me I'll win"
Tra la la la la,
Tra la la la la,
The scammers who tell you you'll win
Tra la la la la,
Tra la la la la,
Tra la la la la la!

I love it! G&S have so many over-parodied songs but you don't see too many of this one! Great choice for the topic. As for the spammers, to quote another song from the opera - "they'd none of them be missed . . ." 555

I've done that one, Pooch - quite a while back (pre-Iraq war... pre-comments on amiright, too). Have a look at http://www.amiright.com/parody/misc/gilbertandsullivanthemikado0.shtml

I'm currently in this show, and this parody cracks me up! It's quite clever.
