Parody Song Title:

"A Modern Micobio-gist"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

From first year med school follies
A Modern Microbio-gist

There's Pneumococcus, Kliebsiella, best of all Chlamydias,
Haemophilus, Neisseria and others just as hideous
And when I've told you all about their DNA and virulence
I have some slides of lesions overflowing, green and purulent.
A fulminating Viridans or Staphylococcus Aureus
Makes microbio faculty feel sweaty hot and glorious
But Choleragic feces or a really fine Diphtheria
Cause us paroxysms of exuberant deliria!

So memorize your Bordetella, Blastomytes, Bubolio,
Plasmodium, Picorna, Para-mixo, Pox and Polio.
If you take notes on all we say and study twenty times a day
Your odds are poor for passing microbiology anyway.

Strongyloides Stercoralis, Oncocerca Volvulus
Or Schistosoma larva may salute you from an orifice.
Protozoa, Toxoplasma, Trichinella in your meat
Remind you just like Kuru to be careful of just who you eat.
Overseas the servicemen all beg for shots to immunize
Them from the local flora when they go carousing with the guys.
Assuring me they only roll the cleanest Paris prostitutes
Chlamydia, Neisseria and Herpes prove their ill repute!

So memorize your Bordetella, Blastomytes, Bubolio,
Plasmodium, Picorna, Para-mixo, Pox and Polio.
If you take notes on all we say
and study twenty times a day
your odds are poor for passing microbiology anyway.

Love it! In the vein of Tom Leherer's elements song and expertly crafted....

Nice job with some great rhyming; it would have been nice to see the whole song though.

Don't remind me. My lowest exam mark ever was in Microbiology. And I think you would have been better off putting the original song as "the Elements" since it fits better (ie the same number of verses :) ).... but who cares. This is very good and the reference to kuru made me laugh because I'm a geek. Did you know that kuru is caused not by bacteria or viruses but prions - proteins which occur naturally but are very dangerous in a particular conformation? I'm sure you did :D
