Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Andersen Consulting"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

In enterprise of business kind when there is dodgy dealing
Our endeavour never find a trace of board-level stealing
But when the Feds investigate, the evidence is mounting
We're unappealing, wheeler-dealing, deal-sealing auditors
Andersen Accounting
We know that we know best, no no
Conflicts of interest, oh, no
We're wheeler-dealing, unappealing, deal-sealing auditors
Andersen Accounting

When to evade conviction's hand, the cover up proceeded
No auditor has ever shredded half as much as we did
We diced documentation, and who knows how much, who's counting?
We're paper-shredding water-treading downward-heading criminals
Andersen Accounting
Our reputation's dead, boo hoo
With all that we did shred, boo hoo
We're paper-shredding water-treading downward-heading criminals
Andersen Accounting

When told that they would all be fired with all that is emerging
Our "independent" consultants start frantic'ly demerging
They split from our accounting arm with haste frankly insulting
Versace-suited undisputed rooted-tooted businessmen
Andersen Consulting
(But please don't ever tell, oh no
They are crap as well, oh no)
Versace-suited undisputed rooted-tooted businessmen
Andersen Consulting

I missed this when it originally came out because of lack of familiarity with Gilbert & Sullivan, but this is a very cleverly rhymed parody. It is probably unfortunate that not more of us are familiar with G&S, because they probably have several songs that are good parody material.

John- most of their songs are good material (see "Miss Piggy") because they were satire in the first place. They wrote 14 operettas most of which are still regularly performed today. Now that's staying power. It's very easy to catch a free performance, and if you're a novice, rent "The Pirates of Penzance" with Kevin Kline and Linda Rhonstat (Sing 10, act 3) It's very campy but fun.
