Original Song Title:

Original Performer:

Gene Autry

Parody Song Title:

"Here Comes Gamera!"

Parody Written by:

Kim West

The Lyrics

Gamera is bit like Godzilla, except that he is less well known.
Here comes Gamera, here comes Gamera,
Right down Tokyo Square.
Gyaos and Guiron attack him,
What could be more fair?

Sirens ringin', children singin'
Gamera is our friend!
Tokyo in complete ruins,
'cause Gamera is our friend!

Here comes Gamera, here comes Gamera,
With his that flaming breath.
He's a giant flyin' turtle that,
can stomp you to death
See that turtle fighting monsters,
Oh what a horrible sight.
Quick! Runaway, and cower in fear,
'cause Gamera's here tonight!

Here comes Gamera, here comes Gamera,
Destroying Tokyo Square!
He doesn't care who lives and dies,
now ain't that real fair?
Gamera knows he's just a big turtle,
and just wants to fight.
So now you know, go run and hide,
'cause Gamera comes tonight!

Here is Gamera, here is Gamera,
Tokyo is no more.
He won his battles, no more monsters,
but he wants to fight some more.
Time to worry, let us scurry.
Oh no, get out of sight!
So let's give thanks we're still alive
'cause Gamera left tonight!

In honor of your parody, Little Orphan Annie is changing her trademark exclamation from "Leapin' Lizards" to "Trouncing Turtle"!

"Goh-zhear-ah" is my favorite Japanese monster-hero, too, Kim! But I must admit I love those lusciously cute Mothra Fairies ..... rrrroowwwrrrr ......

Oh my, I did not expect this amount of attention to my little song. Thank you everyone! Jeff: I will have to see what I can do about doing a Godzilla parody. Stuart: I remember MST3K doing a parody of Gamera's theme song "We Are Eating Gamera!" that was sort of the inspiration for my song. Kristof: I sense that Godzilla has a fan club forming. ^-^ Red: LOL. Rex: Thank you for comments, voting, and noticing I hit 25. Scathe: I'm glad you enjoyed my song. Rick: I'm glad you're not Gamera shy. Johnny: I will try to fit the twins into the Godzilla song that is beginning to take shape in my mind, possibly to the tune of "Ghost Riders In The Sky."

I lived in Tokyo for several years and had never seen any of these monsters over there except on TV. I think they are just messing with us. I did see lots of gameras though and had my picture taken often. And that bit about the Japanese not moving their mouths in sync with what is being said, I can say I had only seen that once over there but that was after drinking about 18 Kirin beers. Mazinga was the current superhero when I was there and I think he fought with Godzilla and Mothra once. Loved your parody Kim. Keep 'em coming. 5s.

Thank you Guy for that wonderful review. Personally I think they keep most of the film stars in an old monsters retirement island, where they can talk about the glory days. I can see Godzilla with a tremendous beer gut using Gamera as a bowling ball (Well his shell anyway). Very exclusive place, I'm not surprised it's not on any of the maps.

Maybe it's a place called Monkey Island. I visited this place once when I was there. It is in the vicinity of a place called Shimoda. Loads of freeloading monkeys abounded but I didn't see any giant bowling alleys or monsters. Just these nasty freeloading monkeys that stole a cookie from my son when he was two years old.
