DUNT-DUN!

Law and Order, Law and Order,
What the hell they doin' on our border?
Just turn Mc-Coy loose now,
He will put them in the hoosegow.

Law and Order, Law and Order,
All the mules they use as drug transporters.
Stop illegal entry,
They get their health care complementary.

Try, try, try, for an abatement,
McCoy's a losin'.
Try, try, try and your exhibit runs,
Into exclusion.

Curtis, Briscoe, Curtis, Briscoe,
Headless corpse found in a topless strip-show.
They catch all weird cases,
And get all up, and get all up, and get all up, in people's faces.

(Instrumental interlude)

Try, try, try to go deceive them,
Psych 'val's demanded.
Cry, cry, cry at the court arraignment,
No bale, remanded!

Law and Order, Law and Order,
It really sucks to be a court recorder.
Gitmo's gone asunder,
What shall they do, what shall they do, what shall they do, with them I wonder.

Great stuff...with, a zowie of a zinger at the end!

I agree; I don't think I'd want to live near the border. Good write on this.

Very descriptive,Guy, and hits the nail right on the head(in a nice Sinatra kind of way...) 555 illegals sent back...
Andy Primus - August 11, 2009 - Report this comment
Don't know who McCoy, Curtis or Briscoe are but 555 for the sentiment. We've the same problem here with illegals. Our legal immigration is out of hand as well - check out these figures for UK schools in 2007.
7.3 million kids at school - 798,110 of which don't speak English or only use it as a second language.
The teachers seem to be having a tough time of it because they can have a class of 30+ but can't communicate with most of them unless they can speak every Eastern European, African & Asian language.

Left a bit out - The teachers IN LONDON seem to be... (in some regions 9 out of 10 are foreign)

We, the jury, find the defendant, Guy DiRito, very talented! :) I think I liked the verse about Curtis and Briscoe the best. (Not sure what that says about me.)
Andy Primus - August 11, 2009 - Report this comment
Doh! I've just got what you're on about by Wiki'ing the names - I've never seen the show and I don't know whether we even have it over here. I thought the first bit was another parody about Mexicans bunking across the border for real - I've read loads of them on here. It makes more sense now why I didn't get the rest of it - I suppose you need to have seen the show
TT - August 11, 2009 - Report this comment
Not sure if it was about the TV show, which I don't watch. Otherwise, disagree politically, but Five the talented write.

To all my commenters - I've had a rough day at work - I started my work day at 6:00AM and worked non stop until about 7:45PM so I will have to catch up on all of y'alls parodies within the next day or so. Broken computer communications networks can play real hell trying to troubleshoot them. I may get called back in yet tonight. Anyway I will reply now to each of you for your kind comments.

TJC - So you liked the ending - did the Gitmo Gitya? Thanks for commenting.

Timmy1K - I sit about 150 miles from Meh -he-ko. So with all the angry people at the town halls en el norte - (north of us) and the cartels south of us waging urban warfare we are quite surronded. I'm glad that Texas gun laws are sooooo liberal. It's one of the few times I can count on for liberal to be a good thing. Thanks.

Mark - The economy is so bad that massive amounts of undocumented aliens are moving back across the border in droves. It's the cartels bringing their drug war north of the Rio Grande that is causing the current problems within the border states. About 75% of the menial labor jobs are no longer available to the cheap labor pool south of the border. - Thanks for your comment

Fiddlegirl - So you liked the Curtis, Briscoe verse - I like your character. Alvin Rhodes would also liked that verse - he's twisted more than me. Thanks for rendering a favorable verdict. And I happen to be watching a Law and Order syndicated re-run right now. Thanks!

Andy - good for you for figuring this out. There are actually four different Law and Order series. There is the original which has been running Sep. 1990. Then came L & O Special Victims Unit. Then came L & O Criminal Intent. Then there was a fourth that ran during the summer - I can't remember what it was called but featured two female prosecutors .

McCoy started out as the executive Assistant DA and is a really rough and tumble prosecutor. Sam Waterston plsyed the character of Jack McCoy. McCoy is now the elected DA for New York County. Character change ups ran regularly and often. There were a number of ever changing detectives and ADAs. Curtis and Briscoe were my favorite detectives - they were partners. The character Lenny Briscoe was played by Jerry Orbach. Orbach died a few years back from cancer. Curtis left the show before Orbach's death - Curtis left because he had three small hildren and his wife developed MS. Briscoe's last episode ended with his reitement - Orbach was terminal with cancer when he left the show.

A trademark of the show is a flat sounding high pitched percussion sound that I can best represent in writing as Dunt-Dun. That is what the Dunt-Dun at the first line of the parody represents.

Try this link - it should play the Dunt-Dun sound byte for you:

Actually everyones comments seem to be focused in on immigration problems in this parody - it is a bit of both immigration problems and the show Law and Order. The original show is weird in the way they rarely feature any family members or anything about their private lives. Once in a while their personal lives pop up. Lenny's daughter once got caught up in a drug possession rap - she played snitch to get out from under the charge and it got her killed. Curtis private life was exposed the most. Virtually nothing about McCoy's private life has been developed into any of the plots and episodes as is with most of the actors.

Arrainments are often shown and a lot of time bale is denied. That is what the Remanded bit is about. McCoy is always pulling off impossible convictions using his ingenuity and guile. So the charatcers being described in this parody pretty much say how they act on the show. Too bad you don't get the show in the UK - I know Americans like it - can't say how it would go over in the UK. Hope you have a bit more insight into this parody and the show now. Thanks.

TT - It's a bit of both as I have described to Andy. I am curious on how you can disagree politically and why. This was not intended to be a political parody. Can you explain it to me please? And thanks for commenting.

Not meaning to turn this into a debate, but as explained at http://www.amiright.com/parody/60s/julieandrews121.shtml, which you missed. I don't believe in the drug laws. Prohibition of alcohol gave the Mafia its huge rise in income, power, corruption of officials, and violence; we realized it was a mistake and repealed it; yet we make the same mistakes with *other* drugs, arbitrarily (alcohol is a drug), with the same (predictable) results: criminal cartels growing rich, corrupting officials, fighting over turf, etc.

Get rid of the drug laws, and the price falls to zilch; no huge black-market profits, hence no criminal gangs fighting over them, so the killings end; no corrupt officials; and besides, they don't do any good anyway -- you can still get whatever you want whenever you want. Except that instead of going to your licensed liquor store, you go to some gangster and pay an outrageous price that fortifies his cartel.

I also don't believe in the immigration laws, as unless you're 100%-Native American blood, your ancestors were immigrants, too. I've had in my "undone" folder for years a parody of the inscription on the Statue of Liberty, but until I finish it, we should at least scratch out that nonsense about,

Give my your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me
I lift my lamp beside the golden door

or at least add a line, "Unless you're Mexican."
Capiche? ... and again, not looking to debate anyone, but was asked, so that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it. Great write, Guy.

OMR - Thanks - I knew this would float your boat, even if it was not intended to be political.

Farce - Thanks buddy.

TT - You make a good point but I could argue back but this is not the forum for that. Besides as I said this was not meant to be political.

Your objection is overruled as my lawyer would tell McCoy, that this goes to the state of mind of the defendant when he wrote this. Every line written in this parody was ripped from the Law and Order just as the Law and Order has countless episodes that were ripped from the headlines. He simply drew on those images from shows he viewed and related to what he sees in his own back yard.

I agree with you that if cartels could no longer make $$$ on drugs then they would stop fighting over them. The solution is to dry up the demand. If there were no customers for drugs then the drug trade would die off. But then they would do the same thing that the Italian Mafia did when prohibition ended. They found something else - DRUGS- to enterprise. We could force people to either clean up or get jailed but this is unrealistic. It worked in China when that state went communist. They had a huge problem with opium consumption - the users were given a choice to clean up or else - but we are not China and the cost to rehab and/or jail offenders is cost prohibitive. Albeit that crime would go down if drugs werer legal and cheap. Users would not commit crimes to get cash for drugs. We will never win the war on drugs - unless we become a police state and crack down because our own people won't let us win that war. Who wants that? Not me.

I know I said this is not the forum for political debate - I agree with you but I just had to make one point on your comment. Thanks for explaining your point of view on why you disagreed politically with this non intended political parody. I've seen everything described in my parody on episodes of all of three L & O serieses.
T - August 12, 2009 - Report this comment
So, why didn't we just dry up the demand for alcohol? ... really not interested in pursuing, but the reply was a failed analogy. The demand for alcohol was there, and the demand for *other* drugs is there. You gonna execute everyone who has a drink or whatever? Or 8-time Olympic Gold Medaliists?

Guy - August 13, 2009 - Report this comment
TT - I said in my above comment that I agreed with you. I don't know the answers to these problems or how or even if we should fight the drug war. There is no upside to this. Legalize drugs and put cartels for the most part out of the drug business - but then there is always money in kidnapping and extortion masked as "protection" and any number of other "fun" things. The upside to drug legalization is tax revenue but the politicians would use the money for nonesense anyway. So lets just leave it where it is and agree to agree with each other. Yeah - we stay friends. We still have freedom of speech so far and I respect your ideas and opinions. Thanks friend!
