The Lyrics

The Bloodhound SSC land speed record car is about to start speed trials with an ultimate goal of hitting 1000 mph. It is 44 ft long, 6.2 ft wide, and weighs 7 tons. It is powered by a single Eurojet EJ200 jet engine of 18,000 lb st augmented by a Nammo HTP rocket engine of 12,000 lb st and uses a 750 hp Cosworth CA2010 formula 1 V8 to drive the rocket's fuel pumps. Wing Commander Andy Green of the RAF will once again drive the LSR nicknamed "The Flaming Pencil" for its shape. He will hit up to 3Gs during the run and could blackout, so he is currently stunt flying to test his body. The solid aluminium wheels will be spinning at 10,200 rpm at max speed and Green will have to decelerate down 200 mph to engage the airbrakes, then another 200 mph for the parachutes, and finally down to 250 mph to use the disc brakes!!! The official run will be made in RSA near North Cape with a cleared area of 12 miles long by 2 miles wide...
New LSR is the Bloodhound
comin’ to the line
New LSR is the Bloodhound
“Flaming Pencil” primed
1000 mph with a rocket
in 42 seconds time!!!

Yes, they claim it will go fast
the SSC will fly
30,000 lbs thrust,
Well, Green will surely try
Speed barrier… gonna slam it,
the Bloodhound is gonna shine!

New LSR is the Bloodhound
comin’ to the line
New LSR is the Bloodhound
“Flaming Pencil” primed
1000 mph with a rocket
in 42 seconds time!!!

Yes, they claim it will go fast
the SSC will fly
30,000 lbs thrust,
Well, Green will surely try
Speed barrier… gonna slam it,
the Bloodhound is gonna shine!

Old record is gonna be smashed,
well, that will be just fine
763 (mph) had been the last,
he’s gonna cross that line
3Gs, Green don’t blackout
or you might crash, burn, and die…

New LSR is the Bloodhound
comin’ to the line
New LSR is the Bloodhound
“Flaming Pencil” primed
1000 mph with a rocket
in 42 seconds time!!!

Oh, I see... the 1-bomber was clearly upset that I didn't write about Hughes' WW2 twin-boom fighter-bomber project Bloodhound, OR the postwar Bloodhound missile! How careless of me ;-)

It could be that the "1-bomber" simply thought your parody stunk.

TY Mr. Observer Second 1-Bomber! Fair enough, but shouldn't that person leave their real name and include comments of why they rated it that way? My bad, I should write about Shirley Temple Black's death and problems with beards ;-)

dang Rob I just don't get the whole trend behind 1-bombing a parody but not having the guts to comment oh well as you probably already knew this gets 5's from me

Mr. Arndt, I beg your indulgence as I correct the grammar and comprehensibility of a previous comment of yours, which I acknowledge was not directed at me. I will reluctantly allow Internet abbreviations, but not the abhorrent emoticon.

As you can see, your major problem is using the plurals "their" and "they" as pronouns for the singular "person." This very common error, arising from a deficiency in the English language, has nearly become acceptable usage, but not by me. I have made the change to "his" and "he," following classical grammar, but I have no complaint regarding those who use "her" and "she" as a bow to gender equality.

I consider using grammar correctly as important to personal dignity as good grooming. The subject is to me what the Third Reich is to you, and I and others have written parodies about grammar.

Grammatical theatrics aside for the moment, should I do the Bloodhound missile next, Jon? And thnx for the 5s. I had a choice of 4 types of Bloodhounds but thought the SSC was perfect. It's not really humorous, but informative... and still is a parody technically by taking the OS topic and lyrics and twisting them to fit something totally different. Elvis would never sing of an upcoming LSR run :)
