The title has been seeded in my brain for years. But it took Rex Ungericht's "Que Syrah, Syrah" on Monday for it to burst forth into the full flower of parodyhood

Especially like the line about "little martyrs of my own". I've seen the videos of mothers who glory in their sons' deaths as suicide bombers. This parody tells the truth. As writers, we all have our favorite topics and specialized knowledge. Well written.

I'm not really trying to make a statement about Islam here. I'm trying to spoof one of the sappiest songs I've ever heard by subbing in some dark humor lyrics. If you listen to the way Doris Day sings the OS, perhaps the contrast will strike your funny bone. There's a reason Doris was a one hit wonder! Indeed, it's a wonder that she was a one hit wonder ..... And Islam comes into the picture because of the bad pun "Que Sura Sura". In retrospect maybe I should have subbed "Nabi", one of the titles of Mohammed, for "will be" -- Whatever Nabi Nabi.

RE: YUNIS YOM ...... If Doris Day converts to Islam, she'll need to change her name. Hence "Yom" which is the Arabic word for "Day" as in "Yom Kippur", the Muslim Day of Atonement, or as in the Arabic word for Mother's Day -- Yom Mama!!. And the name "Junus" is the Arab equivalent for Jonas, so "Yanis" would be the Arab equivalent for ..... now, you're getting it!! With that in mind, feel free now to spew whatever beverage you are currently imbibing all over your keyboard. You're welcome.
