Song Parodies -> "As Rhymes We Try"

Original Song Title:

"As Time Goes By"

Original Performer:

Dooley Wilson

Parody Song Title:

"As Rhymes We Try"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

VERSE:

This word wizard website we play
Survives on apprehension
It's like a fifth dimension
And often there's dissension

We sometimes do grow weary
Our work reflecting dreary
But, then come those, fine rows of prose
That draw deserved attention

So, we log on for new listings
Each morning without fail
And crave each vote, to float our boat
And make our dinghy sail...

CHORUS:

It isn't always bliss,
We are aware of this,
Bad comments can roll by
These parodies are all subjective
As Rhymes We Try

We hope that readers do
Leave fives for me and you
Who needs that old "Ones" guy?
High hopes that ride on style and pacing
As Rhymes We Try

Rewriting love songs
Some old, out of date
Rock, Soul, or Country
New words we create
Hoping someone may
Satirically relate
And give us wings to fly..

A switch upon the story
A spoof to show new glory
Our limit is the sky..
Here in the land of Ami-writers
As Rhymes We Try

Here's looking at you AFW. BTW; how on Earth and beyond did you come up with the idea to substitute the word time with the word rhyme on the same day as me? What are the odds? I too am SHOCKED! (OK, so mine was times and rhymes, but nevermind that...) :-)

Here's another bizarre coincidence. Humphrey Bogart was the second choice to play Rick in Casablanca. The first choice was Ronald Reagan, but Ronald Reagan was unavailable at the time Casablanca was to go into production. "Casablanca" translates into English as "White House".

*Imagines things going along with primary cast*
*Imagines Bogart in the White House*
*Imagines the line "Here's looking at you Gorby!"*
*Imagines Lauren Bacall starring in "Falcon Crest"*

OK, so I googled out that last name, but if I understand correctly she's the Lucy from "I love Lucy"? What could not have been?

That is interesting, Johnny...and if he had played the part of Rick, who knows, he might have became as big a star in movies, as he was in politics. So, goes the forks in life, I guess.

well done, AFW - yes it's a turbulent sea sometimes for all our little dinghies - 555

Listen, sweetheart, if this parody leaves the ground, and you don't five it, you're gonna regret it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon, and for the rest of your life. (But Rick Salomon, what about us?) We'll always have Paris.
