Parody Song Title:

"Liberals Eat Their Own"

Parody Written by:

Linda Terhune

The Lyrics

Senator Joe Lieberman - a man good enough to run for VP, good enough to be in the senate for nearly 2 decades, but apparently not good enough for the new moveon radical liberals... poor Joe!
... it were not true I would say so

they don't care if you're decent or
respectable soul you've shown
best you vote dem 100%
cuz dems eat their own

they don't care if you've been around
for 10 or 20 or more years
if you are morally prone
run cuz they eat their own

the dem party is now run by
freaks like moveon and moore
fanatic nuts are their backbone
these dems eat their own

screw all values and decency
it's 100 percent or you're out
best be a radical clone
cuz these dems they eat their own

Move there (Connecticut) and vote for him, Linda.

Ich liebe Lieberman nicht, aber Ich liebe diese Lieder. Ich gebe dir fuenfs fur Wahl. Stimmer fuer mich in November. Danke.
Immoral Liberal - August 08, 2006 - Report this comment
While Ned probably doesn't understand German, it's the official language of Terhune and her party. Sorry Linda, we liberals were too busy keeping the man convicted of fraud and embezzlement - Tom Delay - on the ballot. Also, we view Lieberman as a republican - this should be rather obvious as we have somebody like you coming to bat for him. You're obviously worried that a national trend, prompted by the smart half of the country who is anti the unjust war in Iraq, will cause the Nazi's in your party to be defeated in November. And you're right. By the way, have you ever thought about taking a writing course? Or was this attempt (and all others) done by your cat Reagan?

I would like to whole heartedly agree that the parody sucks; I got lost, pacing-wise, WAY too many times for a 4 stanza parody. I haven't read any of your other stuff, Linda, (political parodies just don't do it for me) but I'm hoping that if you're a regular contributor to this site, that the lack of skill showcased in this parody is an exception, or you might consider using another mode of communication to present your (completely biased) political views.

I would like to point out to Immoral Liberal, however, that if you're going to criticize someone for their writing abilities, and imply that you are a member of the "smart half" of the country, you should probably realize that the plural of Nazi does not contain an apostrophe. We all make mistakes and I know, it was probably a typo, but really, don't you think a rant criticizing someone else's ability to write should be written correctly? Maybe you and Stephen Colbert could get together and alter the rules of English grammar on Wikipedia, so they are more suited to your writing abilities. In addition, the general tone of your comment shows that it is fueled by emotion and biased opinion, (just as Linda's parody was) and that is never a good way to prove intelligence.

In short, I think you're both immature and poor representatives of your respective parties.
Immoral Liberal - August 08, 2006 - Report this comment
NTPSH - thanks for catching my typo - it happens. By the way, always spell out "four". In addition, by definition an opinion is biased, so "biased opinion" is redundant. "We all make mistakes and I know, it was probably a typo, but really, don't you think a rant criticizing someone else's ability to write should be written correctly? Maybe you and Stephen Colbert could get together and alter the rules of English grammar on Wikipedia, so they are more suited to your writing abilities." Finally, thank you for the compliment - maturity is so over rated.

By the way, periods go inside of quotation marks.

And don't lecture me on maturity...I've seen you engage in more ridiculous mud throwing contests than I care to remember. Again, none of your behavior does anything to support your claims that you're intelligent.
Immoral Liberal - August 08, 2006 - Report this comment
No, the style is correct. You may want to take another read of my post. Show me where I lectured you on maturity. I have to agree with you on your last comment. I can see where engaging in a discussion with you or Terhune could give one the impression that my behavior lacks intelligence. By the way, if you're going to use an ellipsis . . . use it correctly. Your turn.
Real American - August 08, 2006 - Report this comment
Like the rest of your material, this was terrible.
Not Taking Political Sides Here - August 08, 2006 - Report this comment
I would invite you to cite your source, regarding the "correctness" of your style, but I really don't care. I could cite several that clearly state that your usage is wrong. I'm sure, however, that you'll find a way to support your choice, so it's pointless.

In fact, I'm done here. You can go back to throwing your tantrums and considering yourself to be clever.
Stylebook - August 09, 2006 - Report this comment
You're both right with respect to the period going in or outside of the quotes. The answer depends on which style is being used (it varies from industry to industry). I'm not taking sides here but it looks like "Not Taking Political Sides Here" is the person who is throwing a temper tantrum.
Amoral Objectivist - August 09, 2006 - Report this comment
Linda Terhune's pieces are tossed off with so little regard for things like meter, humor, and creativity that she's obviously just baiting those who are similarly partisan--but on the other extreme of the political spectrum. Why they continue to take the bait is anyone's guess.

Ted Kennedy - August 09, 2006 - Report this comment
Dear MoveOn member, It's a big day. Last night, people-powered politics proved the pundits wrong. Riding a wave of voter revolt against Iraq and the Bush administration, Ned Lamont beat Joe Lieberman. So today, take a moment to celebrate. And then, let's roll up our sleeves and do nationally what we did together last night in Connecticut. As the Associated Press says, "To triumph in November, Democrats will need the same intensity, including the support of bloggers and groups such as MoveOn.org, that powered Lamont to victory in Connecticut."1 We start building that victory today. In an election decided by 10,119 votes, MoveOn members made 77,000 calls to get Connecticut voters to the polls and put Lamont over the top. Now we need to make enough calls to win back Congress, as part of our "Call for Change" program. Can you sign up today to help make those calls?

Another piece of Coulterish twaddle from Linda. By the way, Ted: Despite our baseball differences (the Yanks-Sox Hundred-Year War), if Vicky will let you, have one on me. (Well, of course, I meant a drink! One, that is.)
Ted Kennedy - August 10, 2006 - Report this comment
Sure Michael, how about dozens of drinks, whey stops at just one. It is celebration time and time that people appreciate and accept what we tell them to appreciate and accept. People are suckers, not very smart and easy to con. Thank God, because we got our man elected and I love it. Drink up

Democrats: the whine that never ends...
Linda - December 31, 2007 - Report this comment
Senator Joe Lieberman just told us he supports McCain, (republican) for president in the 2008 elections. He said he did so because McCain, out of all the candidates on both sides of the fence, McCain is the one who can be non-partisan, fair and not play political games. I said the same thing years ago about McCain and about Joe Lieberman (while he was still a democrat senator). They are both the sort who vote for what is right for the country, not for some political party issue, (like wanting bills/solutions/things good for our country to be passed only when they are in power - or, unreasonable, extreme crud etc). That's what got Lieberman black balled from his own party, (they eat their own) in the first place! He tried to vote and act in ways good for the country and his own party turned on him cold. This is not the first time they have done this, it's either "vote, think, act, talk and do what we tell you to or you are out! It's no longer the old "vote for the candidate who really wants our country to do well and succeed" -- it's more like, be a demoncrat or we will make your life miserable, blackball you and then go out and get any media form possible to trash the traitor! The democrat prty is far from the tolerant, bleeding heart, free speech for all - GO America sort they once were decades ago - but rather a lot of sheep led by some really horrible un-ethical, partisan pushing, ego-tripping herders. "Bah bah black sheep demoncrats - have you any soul? No sir, No maam - we're all ego" - sick sick party.
