The Lyrics

Amid the controversy over the firing of Coach Joe Paterno who was at one time a shining becon of respect at Penn State, one cannot overlook the moral and ethical effects of "JoePa" not reporting the 2002 shower incident of Sandusky sodomizing a 10 yr old to the police and making sure he lost his job permanently. Instead, Joe Paterno made a minimum effort and put Penn State's reputation above Sandusky's crime. This allowed Sandusky to continue to sexually abuse more boys over time until an investigation led to this 9 years later prosecution and disaster for squeaky-clean Penn State. I fully side with the Board that dismissed him yesterday. Had he shown up to finish his season, it would have been a disgrace to Penn State and a slap in the face to all of Sandusky's victims. Oh "poor Joe" is gonna pray for them. He could have _saved_ most of them by calling the police in 2002. He didn't and therefore his light deserves to burn out. I have no respect for this man at all and no pity. He himself has claimed that he _always_ went the distance- not in this case.
Hey down in Pennsylvania, Penn State was real clean,
Joe Paterno was an honorable human being
“JoePa“, a man of integrity thus he stood
Until a sex-scandal proved he wasn’t so good
Sandusky raped a child in the showers, what hell
Paterno messed-up , Police he failed to tell

[Chorus]
Go Go
Go. “JoePa” Go
Go Go
He wasn’t so good

He notified Tim Curley, that was the end of that
Sandusky was allowed to keep his job intact
So, Paterno allowed a child molester to remain
And continue to hurt children causing pain
Now people are angry, “JoePa” can’t stay
The Board was right to fire him yesterday

Go Go
Go. “JoePa” Go
Go Go
He wasn’t so good

Penn State is at a grievous loss, it loved this man,
But Joe is liable for things getting out of hand
He let a child molester prowl around
His reputation is stained as he is brought down
This legend, his legacy was so bright
Maybe he wasn’t so good… sigh….

Go Go
Go. “JoePa” Go
Go Go
He wasn’t so good

I think these recent abuses in the media have hit a sore spot for me personally. I was abused growing up and since I am close to death am really mad at everyone for what happened. I am mad at my parents, the world for looking the other way, and even at God for allowing me to be abused and damaged all my life. My life has been filled with both anger and deep pain. Joe Paterno should go to jail for harboring a sexual predator and the same for that abusive child-beating judge.

I liked JoePa until this scandal... and I was abused too, I'm still something of a human doormat too... great work, and 4-5-5...

The biggest problem for too many people is that no one tells you what assault and abuse can consist of or how it's done. It leaves a landmine device in your head and when it erupts you have to deal with it even though it's already bungles up your life. Let's see how Sandusky and NoPa like it when they become "prison b*tches". Too bad we can't erase the damage already done : (

For the record, he did report it and it was silenced by the next level up, he did not do enough--but he also wasn't the one who witnessed it, more details need to come out for me to have a strong opinion. Sandusky is the monster here--Not Paterno, and for those who seem to think Paterno is/should go to jail--let us not forget that two people have been charged as accessories, the fact Paterno isn't one of them should tell us a thing or two about Paterno's role or lack there of in all of this. Sorry just stating an opinion--I think blaming/chastising Paterno is shifting attention away from the person who deserves the negativity--and even that would be focusing on something that, frankly, can't be funny no matter how you look at it.

Just realized you even mention that he did tell the next level up in the parody. . .who should have called the police. . .again not saying that he shouldn't have himself, but if you heard something like that about someone who you knew very well to be a totally different person--would you jump to believing it? I don't know--the whole thing is messed up and I hope I don't see too many parodies by anyone on this nasty subject--because really, its not something I want to focus on, Sandusky and anyone who may have covered it up intentionally--will get what is coming to them, for Paterno, I will await more details before forming an opinion on him.

BS, NOTHING that had to do with football at Penn State got past Joe's attention and authority- so what did he do for 9 years while Sandusky raped and molested young boys? Are you claiming he knew nothing about it? The man that was a reputed legend that controlled and knew about everything that went on with his team and assistants? BS. He put Penn State's reputation above a serious crime and allowed others to be abused. It was a cover-up for a squeaky-clean Penn State and their fund-raiser events for sports activities and remodeling. To claim 46 season JoePa had no idea what was going on with his assistants and the facilities over 9 years is utter denial. JoePa belongs in jail- period.
Below Average Dave - November 13, 2011 - Report this comment
I didn't say he knew "nothing" about his assistants etc. . .I said his knowledge of this was not probably nearly as much as you are giving him credit for--he was a coach not friggin God. . .you are entitled to your opinion-I however don't pass judgement as that's not my place, and I won't form an opinion until I know enough details to do so. If JoePa belongs in jail, meaning he covered up details, he will end up there because the all the details are coming out. . .I will let the authorities do their job, I don't have strong religious beliefs, but if there is a God, I'll leave the judging to him
Rob Arndt - November 13, 2011 - Report this comment
Nonsense, Joe by ADMISSION had always said that a) nothing got past him when it came to Penn State football and b) that HE always went the DISTANCE with ANYTHING he was in charge of... oh yeah? When someone reports a 10 yr old boy being SODOMIZED at the facilities, Joe SHOULD HAVE CALLED THE POLICE IMMEDIATELY instead of passing the buck to someone else AND letting Sandusky continue on abusing boys over a 9 year time period. Paterno KNEW EVERYTHING about his team, assistants, and what was going on. He let Sandusky hurt those boys and I don't care what you "think" The facts got him FIRED already-fact, no debate. He IS under investigation too and when the facts come out his already tarnished reputation will be in the trash. As Coach he was not only irresponsible, but allowed a sex abuser to hurt children for years. He has soiled the reputation of Penn State and destroyed his legacy.
Below Average Dave - November 14, 2011 - Report this comment
I will reiterate one thing only. . .you said it you . . .read your own statement a-emphasis on the 'when it came to Penn State Football". . .he's a coach not God. I agree he didn't go to the proper authority first-but he more than likely questioned the validity of the statement and that is probably why he went higher, that's all I'm saying, and its only a reiteration. He was going to be fired regardless, his reputation was tarnished to a point that he was a liability to Penn State, it does not indicate a finding of guilt as you have. All we are doing is elaborating on irreconcilably different opinions. I'm not saying he was perfect in his actions, I'm saying he's not the one who we should be focused on and that we don't know what he knew or didn't know. . .and that's it. I'm done on this subject, I will not be posting any more replies here because we have different philosophies, I am of a mind set not to judge a situation or person where I have limited knowledge of his/her guilt or lack therefor (heck even then, I don't judge people in general other than a light jab now and then, life is too short to focus on people like Paterno. . .Sandusky is the real problem here, not Paterno) I hope we can agree to disagree because I don't have anything personally against you I just don't agree with your overall opinion, I don't think Paterno knew as much as you think he knew because if he did I doubt he would have taken the accusation so lightly, I'd bet anything if he was the one who saw it he'd have reported it to the police directly. What about the guy Mike McQueary who actually DID witness it, why didn't HE go directly to the police? Just a thought. . .again I hope we can agree to disagree because we are only spinning wheels right now and I want no long term beef with you, I'm just of a different mind set that's all.
