The Lyrics

We've seen all this many times before. Time Magazine makes a controversial choice for "Person Of The Year". Then Time issues the same worn-out statement that their selection is solely based on "influence", positive or negative being irrelevant. (Among past honorees are Hitler and Stalin.) And again, Time gives the designation to a poorly-defined and artificially-created "group" rather than an actual person. A few years ago, it was "me". This year, it's a contrived entity known as "The Protester". This ficticious "individual" lumps together the "good" (pro-democracy and human rights demonstrators), the "bad" (London rioters and terrorist bombers), and the "ugly" (some elements of the Occupy Movement). In doing this, Time equates and links all protesters, diminishing the noble while validating the criminal and rediculous. Nice work there, Time ;D

Oh dear! Who is Man Of The Year?
Time just chose - someone you'd not suppose.
This is sweet! It's the mob in the street.
It's The Protester!
The team - who felled Egypt's regime,
Or the throng - who would right Putin's wrong,
And the lark - down in Zuccoti Park.
All One Protester!

In Greece without cease - flaming riots they fan.
Assad feels their rod. Soon he won't be The Man.
But don't count those in Iran.
'Though the mullahs are bloody
Our gov still thinks they're our buddy!

The Brits - who became lawlwss gits,
All the fine - bombers in Palestine,
And the sports - who would shut down our ports.
The proud U.S. stars - who sh*t on cop cars,
It's The Protester!

This choice - will cause some to rejoice.
It's good news - for those of certain views.
Time supports - all the acts of these sorts.
Hail The Protester!
But gobs - of folks wanted Steve Jobs.
Other picks? What about Seal Team Six?
Or repeat - Big O.'s term in the seat.
No, it's Protester!

The spates in the States can't be called the same thing
As those in the throes of the brave Arab Spring.
Each "Occu" diff'rent goals bring.
They've no common direction.
Well maybe O.'s re-election!

Not fair! Time just shouldn't compare
Thugs and whacks - to those facing attacks.
Does Time seek - to go left of Newsweek?
You can't make one group - from this diverse troop.
No One Protester!

My choice would be...Chucky G.!

He's 'celebrating' 'cause he's just been voted Person of The Year by Time Magazine, Ribber. ;^)
Did they really award it to Hitler once? Blimey.... and I'd always thought that was supposed to be one of the more intelligent magazines..! Anyway, a 555 for this parody, which IS way more intelligent than Time's decision. Nobody in the UK thinks those rioters in summer were particularly noble or brave - they were just a bunch of chavvy losers who used it as an excuse to loot shops and attack people they had issues with.

Hitler was Time's Man of the Year for 1938. He appeared on the Jan 1939 cover: http://www.history.ucsb.edu/faculty/marcuse/projects/hitler/sources/40s/414-141HitlerTime.jpg

Time does enjoy stirring up the (melting) pot! They named me man of the year in 1979. 555 virgins for this parody.

Time totally ignored the Tea Party in 2009 & 2010. But It were vindicated ... TP barely managed to help elect 60 new House members, 7 new Senators, and 600 or so state legislators in those years. The 2011 protestors?
