The Lyrics

It used to be that the Christian Right was a large majority of votes for the GOP and a large contributor in campaing funding. But last election proved that society is more progressive and open to same-sex marriage, legalized drugs, amnesty for illegal immigrants, and stronger women's rights. The REPs lost all of those voting groups: the LGBT vote, the Youth vote, the Hispanic vote, and the women's vote. Unless the GOP changes with the times it will become irrelevent. I don't see a problem with a balance of family values, gun rights, strong military defense, strong economy... AND giving in to society's demands for social progression. No REP nor fanatical Christian group that shouts "God hates fags!" has to answer for another group's sins. In fact the opposite is true: Jesus LOVES all of us, even when we are in sin. Hate the sin but love the person and don't cram what you believe down other's throats but lead by example of righteous living. Then people will be more inclined to listen to the Gospel and repent. I've been a REP since Reagan but can't stand the direction my party is going. I'm more of a moderate now and that's what's best for America.
Oh, REPs hate Homos!
And same-sex marriage!
They’re Homophobic psychos
Against equality!

The Christian Right they did milk
For big campaign funding
“Homos offend YHWH,
are against morality!”

Oh, REPs hate Homos!
Election votes? Costly!

[The DEMs giggle with glee]

I still think the main reason Reps. lost in a big way last time is their constant refusal to be there on economic issues for most Americans, and their wanting to cut into government programs. That's the main thing they need to change, and to not seem like they want war so much. The party wouldn't be much of a party if it's basically as liberal as Democrats and still not there on economic and war issues. Although people seem to be becoming more liberal, it's still really split. I think a lot of it is people being worn down by the media

God is fully capable of dealing with homosexuals as he sees fit. He doesn't need Fred Phelps or anyone else's help. The Supreme Court will bypass the will of the majority and the gradual process of social evolution and force states to accept and recognize homosexual marriage. Not because it wishes to expand rights, but because it wants to take another poke at the beliefs of conservative Christians. If only the judges were so doctrinaire about the Second Amendment.

Hey Patrick, here in blue-state Cali the REPs here care less about homosexuality than gun rights at this time. Everywhere I go the gun racks are empty and ammo is either out or short. All sporters and auto pistols except the very cheapest or most expensive US types are in stock. All foreign types out. I need to decide whether to buy a Beretta PX-4 soon or wait until Walther comes back in. They're asking $700 for the PX-4 when it should be $550. Everyone conservative is afraid of a new ban and the gun stores are tacking advantage. Out of state transfers are another $150 tacked on! The Supreme Court will tackle the same-sex marriage issue for Cali and maybe other states if it's voted a Constitutional right... @Anon, I didn't say the REPs needed to be liberal, just progressive with the social norms. You can still be conservative, support the troops, strong foreign policy, strong business and export, and internal job creatuion vs out sourcing. Perhaps some biofuel development while also more nuke reactors and drilling. It's that thing called compromise ;-)

The pursuit of happiness knows no morality....but should it ?

Robert D. Arndt Jr. you, like me and many conservative minded people, have the decency and integrity to stand against bad politicians. good for you. too bad that NO ONE on the left wants to improve our stay in america, they just wanna " win" out of hate for bush, their crappy jobs, their attitudes, who knows. but you're right. i'd like to see us all vote 3rd party or libertarian until they finally win or just sit it out, stay home, ignore it and enjoy what is left. BONUS INFO - the constitution gives NO ONE a "RIGHT" to change the meaning of our established words. PLUS, that isnt governments job. if gays and such want insurance policies and hospital ' rights" common to straight folks- then the gays need to go to the hospitals and insurance companies with their improvement ideas or better yet sean penn and michael moore, start it up yourself if you really care. i didnt think so.
