The Lyrics

Thanks...to all them for these
Old songs we won't forget
Great movies we see yet
Comic routines and Broadway scenes
Still in our mem'ry net,
We thank them so much...

And thanks...to all them for these
Performers like Bob Hope
Old Ski Nose with the slope,
Had timing right each show, each night
And jokes as clean as soap,
We thank him so much...

Deserving of gold stars are Old Stars
The ones who have passed to Here After
For just our applause, gave us laughter
We owe all these...celebrities..

So thanks...to all them for these
Great entertainment times
A treasure in our minds
Our hearts recall each one and all
Their special place it finds..
We miss them so much...

Thanks...to all them for these
Like Jack Benny's cheap schticks,
Rodney "D's" tie fix
George Carlin's style
He made us smile
And gave us lotta' kicks,
We thank them for these..

Thanks...to all them for these
Sinatra and his poise
Man's man and ladies choice
Critics would praise
So many ways
His acting and his voice..
We thank him so much...

We loved those roasts by Dean Martin
So blessed were our evenings that he graced
Thank God that the tapes were not erased
They're all still there
For us to share...

Yes, thanks...to all them for these
The Johnny Carson show
Like an old friend we know
When monologues died like old dogs
He still kept things aglow...
He had that great touch...

And thanks...Carroll O'Connor, too
Ms.Stapleton, Dear Jean
When Archie would act mean
She'd keep her cool
The good wife rule
Her humor always keen...
We thank them so much...

And then, there was Johnny Cash
Performed with his wife, June
They went away too soon
The way they'd shine
And Walk The Line
With legendary tunes..

We thank..all of them, so much...

Jokes as clean as soap. Today's performers need a bar shoved in their mouths. Carlin used four letter words, but he was a satirist bent on exposing the hypocrisy of the establishment. I think Dean Martin's drunkenness was mostly an act. Looking back at old Carson shows, Johnny Cash, "All In The Family", I am impressed by the quality and real humor. Today's dramas can be more realistic in dealing with adult topics, but today's "comedies" don't even belong on the same screen with the true talents of the previous generation.

Apples and oranges. Times change and so does what constitutes progressive comedy. In the early days of film and television slapstick reigned and plain old silliness was common. But today those are at the bottom of what is considered top comedic. And the talent of yesterday could not hope to succeed with today's more intelligent audiences. Your talent was in the age of largely uncorrupted viewer innocence, today it is open violence and vulgarity mixed with brutal, shocking reality laced with uncensored obscentiy. Both are still funny, but the old material is dated and in B&W in some cases (technologically obsolete). Just sayin'...

So, what's wrong with black and white..looks like the award nominated movie, "Nebraska" with Bruce Dern is doing pretty well...If you think open violence and vulgarity mixed with brutal, shocking reality laced with uncensored obscenity is funny...keep laughing, and write your own parodies about it...meanwhile, I'll stick to writing re-worded songs of what I lived, know, and appreciate..but thanks for your critique

Bad grammar in the title and droning flaws-1s all around. And hey old guy, next time you are at a museum feel free to join the displays on fossils :)

Thanks for the so-called grammar lesson and museum advice, school guy, (no, not bad grammar, you're just not important enough for capital letters) ......and the next time you're in a school...try to learn something about respect and manners

Should be "Thanks to All of Them for These"
@ Corrected Again - January 16, 2014 - Report this comment
No it shouldn't because then it would be 1 syllable too many and that would make it as poorly constructed as yours.

Keep up the good work AFW and don't let this bitter idiot grind you down.

Another Fossil (well,-....ah, another AFW, thanks...he doesn't bother me...just a pesky bug in the castle...sooner or later, he'll buzz on out the window

You covered that well but I would like to include Urkel and Bart Simpson. Jay may be dirty but he will be missed.
