I'm a huge fan of Clancy Brown. "Who?" Exactly. He's one of those actors who's name hovers pretty much under the radar, but you'd know him if you saw him. And you’d probably recall the movie or TV show you saw him in, and what part he played. So this is a tip-of-the-helmet (barbarian, general, cop, take your pick) to one of the great understated actors of our time: Clancy Brown!

Some of the embellishments are taken from the original Bobby Darin classic, and some are added to fit the lyrics. So this may not be an exact match, meter-wise, but I believe it's pretty close, babe. (uh-huh)

I think he was in films like Bad Boys, Highlander, Shawshank redemption, and Starship Troopers, right?
oh, I most definitely know of Clancy Brown! the voice of Mr. Krabs in "SpongeBob SquarePants" Vice Principal Pangborn in the (comparatively) short-lived "Rugrats" spin-off "All Grown Up!" and the voice of Dr. Cortex in the "Crash Bandicoot" game series. even offered to reprise the role for the new "N. Sane Trilogy" but was turned down for some bloke named Lex Luthor, or something like that... proving that the developers of said trilogy are the ones that are N. Sane! 5s
Stuart: Yep. Mr. Brown was also in TV shows like Lost and Earth 2, and the cult classic Buckaroo Bonzai. He's done a TON of voice-overs for lots of kids' 'toons, like Gunmar, the main baddie in Trollhunters (a pretty good CG kids' show on Netflix). His voice is great for that sort of thing. Just wanted to give him his due somehow, and this tune seemed perfect for that.
Jonathan: That's interesting that you mostly recognize him from his voice-overs. I was ### years old when SpongeBob and Rugrats were on, and don't have kids, so I haven't really seen much of either. He's always got something going on, according to his IMDb filmography, which is pretty extensive (no surprise). And anyone who turns him down for ANYTHING probably won't hold their job for long. In my opinion, his presence adds points to whatever he's in. Even if the movie/TV show/'toon isn't that great, it's still better than it would have been. Again, my opinion.
^ grew up in the 90s, with those shows. although, Spongebob has gone downhill hard since 2005. but yeah, if you have Clancy Brown offering to reprise his role for your company, you're a fool to say no!
Brown was absolutely fantastic in HBO's short-lived "Carnivale". See a bit of him in action here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8M93KLbwLYY . It will shock you.
Agrimorfee: I totally forgot about Carnivale. He was great in that! Pretty creepy show, and his character was just as creepy. And he had a main role, which is always good. Thanks for the reminder.
ISTR he was in films like The Bride, Flubber, Blue Steel, Warcraft, Cowboys and Aliens, John Dies at the End, Shoot to Kill, Hellbenders, and other animated stuff. His face always stands out. His voice I wouldn't recognize.
Haven't seen The Bride or Flubber. Saw Blue Steel a looong time ago (on VHS!!), but I'm sure his part was kinda small back then. Loved WarCraft and Cowboys & Aliens. Haven't seen the last three you mentioned, nor any of the animations he lends (rents?) his voice to, except for Trollhunters. Am I the only one that thinks he and Ron Perlman could play brothers in some awesome action movie. That would rock! Hey, maybe Expendables 4! B > )

Yeah, I noticed that. (minor spoiler warning) Turns out he’s the voice for the big fiery red guy at the beginning and end of the movie. I could say more, but then I’d have to give another, bigger spoiler warning. Anyway, good catch, Craig.
