Song Parodies -> "That Med/Max Ad on TV"

Original Song Title:

"Rendezvous Time in Paree"

Original Performer:

Benny Goodman

Parody Song Title:

"That Med/Max Ad on TV"

Parody Written by:

MedAdvantage Max

The Lyrics

The greatest advertisement in television history.
Medicare season’s fair game,
Talking card ad with no shame,
It’s a great new ad, can’t you see?
That new Med-ad on TV…

The card talks, he’s sure not insane,
Helping those that use a cane,
You don’t get Medicare for free,
It’s that new Med-ad on TV.

Recall the dreary fall,
When Medicare ads all aired then,
But fall came by again,
A talking Medicare card helps one win…

Calling determines your fate,
Hotlines have helpers who wait,
If they’ve called them; why haven’t we?
It’s that new Med-ad on TV!

There’s a season for Medicare? Does it come before, during or after the other four? I’ll be old someday so I need to know things like that in advance. Question for the group - I’m obviously new here but I thought parodies were supposed to be funny. Haven’t seen anything of the sort in my six weeks of lurking.

Finally, a name I recognize. As I recall, Benny Goodman's name was dropped one time for a pico-fraction of a microsecond in an "Intro to Humanities" course that I took a few centuries ago. Then the Prof played a very nice tune called "In The Mood". I particularly liked what Benny did with the lyrical bridge between the second and third stanz- .... JUST KIDDING! There aint no lyrical bridge. WHY? Because there aint NO LYRICS!! Lyrics were an afterthought for these Swing era orchestras ...... OBTW, just so you understand the enormity of the looniness or 4D trolling or whatever the 'eff is going on here, there are 16 songs on the Benny Goodman iTunes menu. This song ISN'T on that list, which means nobody on the face of the Earth cares about or recognizes this song

Hey Brad the non-poet, there were/are MANY GREAT writers here. Many have left or just lurk just due to personal reasons and general ennui (including myself). Peruse the top 20 or so authors at http://www.amiright.com/parody/authors/ for some gems (NOT ALL OF THEM ARE GOOD, BUT COURTESY PREVENTS ME FROM BEING SPECIFIC)--and also look there for Spaff.com, who wrote many GREAT parodies that were professionally recorded and featured on The Dr. Demento Show. I hope this helps you enjoy the place, which, yes, has been under misrepair and vandalized the past year or so.

Thanks for the info. I was a Dr Demento fan growing up, and found some radio shows (Bob and Tom) that did hilarious parodies, so I was hoping to find some budding talent here. Sadly, seems like mostly mediocre stuff and some a-hole doing the same thing over and over. Guess I’ll look elsewhere.

I know you commented here, Phil Ossifer. Don’t try to post an attack critique against MedAdvantage Max, TV’s new advertising obsession. Because if you do, he’ll come to life and force you to rely on the government to pay your bills. So unless you want to anger an anthropomorphic talking Medicare card, I’d quit.

Sorry, wrong number. Here's how it works: Over the last several months I've only posted comments as a response to you posting your usual copy/pastings that use my name and past ideas. Look at your other entry for today. Last I checked (late this morning) it had no comments. Hmmm, don't start nothin', won't be nothin. And gosh, could it be I'm not the only reader who thinks you suck? Brad, assuming he hasn't left for good, seems to be the embodiment of my concerns when you first brought your garbage to this site. Agrimorfee said it well: the vast majority of good writers either left or just don't post anymore, so what does a new person see? You posting five variations of your favorite geezer tune.
