Sue Gray, an experienced civil servant of high repute, was asked by the UK's prime minister Boris Johnson to look into the circumstances surrounding social gatherings on or around government premises during a period of severe social "lockdown" in 2020 that was in turn based upon a limited knowledge of the rampant coronavirus. An e-mail invitation relating to a garden gathering on 20th May 2020 emphasized the lovely weather as a factor conducive to outdoor assembly. Luckily, most of the people receiving that message chose not to attend.
