The Lyrics

This is for all of us who are a little bit annoyed that the cool kids have stolen our thunder. This is for everybody who loved Lord of the Rings or Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy or Narnia or Frank Herbert or Philip K. Dick before Hollywood got a hold of them to make big bucks off of them. This is for everybody who thrilled to the magic thrill of logging onto BBSs when 'logging on' was a new thing, and computers only belonged to geeks. This is for everybody who remembers that Archie, Jughead, and Veronica aren't just comic book characters. Whenever something you've privately cherished as a geek all your life makes it to the big time, and it seems just a teensy bit ruined because now all the 'cool kids' are doing what you did way back when... pour yourself a glass of beer and shed a tear and sing this little known geeky-western song...that I wrote~Slyfoot
I Was Geeky When Geeky Wasn't Cool

I remember wearin' real thick glasses,
Checkered shirts even when they weren't in style.
I remember singin' with old Weird Al,
In the classes of my high school with a smile
And I was readin' Douglas Adams
When all of my friends
Were diggin' Stephen King or Sartre or Proust--
I was Geeky when Geeky wasn't cool.

I remember sittin' in the lunchroom
Snackin' up and smackin' down tight code.
I remember when no-one was lookin',
I was ridin' where the Rohan riders rode.
I took a lot of kiddin',
'Cause I never did fit in.
Now look at everybody tryin' to be what I was then.
I was Geeky when Geeky wasn't cool.

Ohh, I was Geeky when Geeky wasn't cool.
I was Geeky, even way back in high school.
I still act and look the same:
What you see ain't nothin' new.
I was Geeky when Geeky wasn't cool.

They called us nerds or dorky for hackin' unix roots,
I'm just glad we're in a country where we're all free to choose
I was Geeky when Geeky wasn't cool.

Hey, I was Geeky when Geeky wasn't cool.
Yeah, an' I was Geeky, even way back in high school
I still act and look the same:
What you see ain't nothin' new.
I was Geeky when Geeky wasn't cool.

Yeah, I was Geeky when Geeky wasn't cool.

Hey, nice to see you here! I wish I could get a copy of the original song (I'm on a borrowed computer for about another week, so no Kazaa or anything) so I could presumably give you some 5s. But it's not cool to 5 peoples' songs when you haven't heard the original ever. Hope you understand ;).

Well I've got a hunch you'll like my version a LOT better than the original, but we shall see. :)
