What's the purpose of investigating MH17 further anyway? The black boxes can only give a scientific explanation of catastrophic depressurization with no way to state that missile schrapnel hit the plane and nothing on the ground can prove WHO shot down the plane with what missile system from where. So the Separatists had BuK SPAAGs in the area and it has high reaching missiles. There are no eyewitness accounts, no survivors, and dubious data. Who can really prove anything and even go further with alleged war crimes? The plane flew over a war zone and should never have had to take that flight path. It is actually easier for the victims' families to accuse European flight control and Malaysian Airlines with irresponsibility than to prove that the Separatists deliberately shot a civilain airliner out of the air on orders of Putin!!! That's absurd. MH17 was in the wrong place at the wrong time and now that Ukraine is using ballistic missiles against the Separatists, Putin may choose to give them BETTER missiles like the S-300 and S-400 systems! MH17 was mistaken on the ground as a Ukrainian military cargo plane- an error and tragedy. But it should have never been there especially when the Separatists had already proven that they could down an An-26 and military jet fighters.

One of the conspiracy sites says the wreckage displays bullet holes. Supposedly, a Ukrainian fighter jet was closing in on the airliner just before it went down. Of course, I could visualize the rebels shooting up the crashed plane just for fun.

The Separatists shot down at least two Su-25 strike aircraft and the An-26 transport plus many helos before and after MH17 using MANPADS and SPAAGs. And, they also contaminated the scene just out of neglect, allowing both their people and civilians walk all over the site and scavenge for items of interest. I feel sorry for that Aussie couple that went there to find their daughter; seemed ridiculous at the time... but I heard today that 80 bodies are still missing, many possibly under huge chunks of wreckage that the Separatists have failed to lift. But it's war zone and they are fighting Ukrainian Govt. forces. Btw, Patrick, no way they could have visually identified the airliner flying at 33,000 ft. On radar its just a blip the size of a military transport. If they wanted to deny any involvement, they certainly would not have handed over the black boxes and allowed anyone to visit the site. It's wide open right now but will not be of any real use to any authority. It is in a war zone and the airspace is contested.
