Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Incandesce, incandesce,
Incandesce, onward
Guard, they, the valley of bulbs
Sixties to hundreds
Battle of Light Brigade
Forming a barricade
Thousands and thousands of bulbs,
Sixties to hundreds

Battle of Light Brigade
Brave bulbs fight on, betrayed,
By cooler fluorescents
Tubes that have plundered
Claiming, the best, to see,
Illuminatingly..
Incandesce fight to be
The rightful ruler of Watt,
Sixties to hundreds

Shining, are the bright of them,
Glowing with life left in them
Fluoresce in front of them
Many tubes blundered
Burned out, and cannot last
Dimming rays they cast
Dead in their starter slot
Incandesce hold fast
Sixties to hundreds

Flashed to the right of them
Flashed, and their fight's intense
Heat and the smoke grows dense
From burned out filaments
Casualties in a pile
Dark skies grow thundered
Wasted and white they lie
Flickering, as they die
GE, Sylvania
Switches from low to high
No glow is rendered
And many bulbs burn hot,
Sixties to hundreds

Shining, are the bright of them,
Glowing with life left in them
Fluoresce in front of them
Many tubes blundered
Burned out, and cannot last
Dimming rays they cast
Dead in their starter slot
Incandesce hold fast
Sixties to hundreds

Bulbs lose not glory fade
Tho' long tube charge was made
Surrender, none did
Peace comes with no tyrade
Long live the Light Brigade,
Sixties to hundreds..

I used to live in an industrial neighborhood, and the singlewide that I lived in backed up to a sign manufacturer's "sign graveyard" (a lot where unwanted or obsolete signs wait for recycling). There was a huge pile of lightbulbs and fluorescent tubes that was directly ahead of where I parked my car but was separated by a chainlink fence. I like lightbulbs, and although I DKTOS, I like this parody and think that it is funny. AFW, you have made me laugh like a crazy woman once again.

May there never be a change of the light brigade. Incandescents forever! :-)
