The Lyrics

This song was from a 1940's movie entitled "I'll Be Seeing You"; and
lots of people have recorded it; I think it's one of the most
beautiful songs I've ever heard, and the kind I don't like to listen
to cause it makes me sad--but this parody is a little far removed
from that, said the wolf....
The midnight bell is tolling
And you're running on
You're feeling like a frightened dove
Or like a skiddish fawn
Your cape is charming, ruby-red
And you know you're not that far ahead...

Chorus:
I'll be treeing you
In all the dark and wooded places
Spooky, damp, nocturnal spaces
All night through

In that small ravine
I'll show you that I'm keen
Upon chasing you
Up in the tree
What will you do?

I'll be treeing you
In my own unique wolf-like way
I'm scary, hairy, big and gray
I wanna eat you up today
We'll start out in the morning sun
And when the daylight's through
I'll be howling at the moon
And I'll be treeing you

In that small ravine
I'll show you that I'm keen
Upon chasing you
Up in the tree
What will you do?

I'll be treeing you
In my own grizzly, beastly way
My fangs are razor sharp today
I'm gonna make you run away
I'll find you, oh it will be fun
And when the daylight's through
I'll be howling at the moon
And I'll be treeing you

You still need to put the original performer name.

Who originally recorded it??
Michael Pacholek - November 18, 2003 - Report this comment
Irving Kahal and Sammy Kahn wrote it in 1938, for the musical "Right This Way." But I can't find a first record or a name thereon. Probably the best-known version now is by Bette Midler, sung to Johnny Carson on his May 22, 1992 farewell to "The Tonight Show."

I suppose you could have put "Unknown" for the performer name, but don't leave it blank!
