Jonathan S. Extended Author Info

Hi, my name is Jonathan Smith, general location...Illinois. I like a lot of different styles of music, but particularly enjoy System Of A Down and Metallica.

Like a lot of parodists, my initial inspiration to create was due to exposure to "Weird Al" Yankovic (via the Dr. Demento Show, of course).

I don't have much of an urge to write politically-themed satire. It's not that it can't be funny (The Capitol Steps put out some hilarious stuff), just that I prefer not to because of how quickly it can become dated.

The story of my first real exposure to Amiright is an odd one: I had just recently heard Robert Lund & Spaff's "My Will" on the Good Doctor's show and was curious as to what the original song was (I wasn't entirely familiar with Beatles stuff - I'm not from the 60's, okay?), so I tried popping over to spaff.com to check. However, the public computer I was on wouldn't let me, as one of Spaff's writes, called "Pedophilia", caused the computer's filter to block the whole website. Then, I remembered that Spaff used Amiright for posting his "North Side of the Pole" parodies and thought if I went there, I could maybe find out what "My Will" was a spoof of. And thus started my voyage into the world of Amiright.
