Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"You Made My Collar"

Parody Written by:

Yet Another Dutchman

This is about cats wearing those bells around their necks so birds can hear them coming, from the cat's pespective. I'm pacing on memory. If anything makes no sense, grammar-wise or other-wise, do comment.
this is what you do, this is what you do
this is what you do

chorus:
you made my collar ring when I'm hunting
startling slews of little birds who flew
this is what you do
think about it ring and all the things
that cower away
you make me, you make me
(x2)

before anything was put between us
I was like the best cat
the one who used to run and toy with
the creatures that wrecked your back garden
I used to think it'd be okay
so put little mouse-things on your stoop
but when I came home late with a hamster
all I received to thank me was your shoe

chorus

now what's bad is you're the one who put it on
no, it shouldn't be you
now what's sad is that I catch leaves when I hunt for shrew
what should I do?
should I
tell my hunting bye-bye
should I
moo, now I got a cowbell tied
'cause I
I don't want to go hunting for prey
when I'm only catching one or two feathers

chorus

at this point the situation's out control
I never meant to hurt ya but I gotta let it go
'cos if you don't understand it, that my instincts need to roll
I'll try, I'll try to fight it, but your feet beg to be mauled

you make, make, make me
hey (you made my collar, uh, uh, uh)
oh, oh (you made my collar, uh, uh, uh)
oh, oh, oh (you made my collar, uh, uh, uh)
ooh, (you made my collar, uh, uh, uh)
take it (you made my collar, uh, uh, uh)
take it offa me (you made my collar, uh, uh, uh)
(you made my collar, uh, uh, uh)
cower away (you made my collar, uh, uh, uh)

chorus

Good parody. Better to keep the cats indoors or else they kill birds and coyotes kill them.

DKTOS so I can't rate it but making a parody on memory alone (that is, without any downloaded lyrics to check pacing) is in my own experience not a good idea. This is also a pet peeve of mine: putting "chorus" vs typing it out or using copy/paste. When I do know TOS I often like to karaoke a parody and having to scroll up and down the screen to read a chorus is a bit bothersome. While many do not like 'space fillers' or repetitive choruses I find it shows more effort on the part of the parodist to have them there. Try changing up the chorus a little bit as well.

I take it the chorus here starts with "You made my..." and ends with "You make me, you make me" and is repeated again, then 3 more times throughout the song. If I'm reading this parody correctly that gives 8 identical parts here that perhaps much could be done with and would make it a better read IMHO. My 2 cents here.

*hee-hee-hee* So CUUUUUUUTTTTEEEE!!!!! I'm a cat lover and I can SO relate. ROFL again as he imagines Garfield in usher outfit and cat collar doing this song.

2Eagle, thanks! Of course, the cat would have to take a plane to the States (or at least to the zoo) to even meet coyotes, but I appreciate it anyway! Red Ant, thanks very much for your technical advice. I'll heed it. Before, I refused to write variable choruses into parodies, because I thought they weren't true to the original's integrity when TOS repeated a chorus seventeen times itself. I have changed my mind, and have written various parodies with variable chorus since. Sam_Spam, thank you loads, as well.
