The Lyrics

I wrote this about a week ago but didn't post it because I figured no one here would be acquainted with the Original Song. But just a day ago (Wed., January 19th) the Los Angeles Times had a front page piece about the rapid increase in the use and abuse of the various forms of methamphetamine. So I decided this was both timely and appropriate to the situation. A former user/abuser had a quote in the article about hearing voices coming up from under the floorboards of his house threatening to kill him and his cat...he was so freaked out he called the police....FYI - the song is on Tori Amos's "To Venus And Back" album that was released in 1999. It's a beautiful song that appears to either be Napoleon writing a letter to Josephine or perhaps her reading his letter on the other end. I'm including a lyrics link in the lower comments.
Up all night; methedrine

In my right arm's vein; that is
where I choose to shoot
then forms your hold on me
half-insane; Oh, my soul I'd sell
in the throws of drug abuse; maniacal
fixed; I'm sold

So strange; cannot sleep - my mind on fire
I fear those sounds are brain cells burning
constricting my arteries
My brain screams all night it seems
victim of my drug abuse; I live in hell
endless hell

In a last pathetic scene - finally crashed
my brain's now trashed
and I can't stop laughing
I hear voices calling me
Up all night; 'til dawn's light
Up all night
Methedrine

Good song, good parody... The subdued timbre of this song fits the subject matter well....

MrMacphisto - Thanks, I wasn't sure anybody else here had actually ever heard the OS to be able to discern that. I've occasionally been a little reluctant to use Tori's song in my parodies because I know how seriously she devotes herself to her work...so I try to match the emotional tone/mood where I can...I was just thinking about doing something with "Glory's Of The 80's" from the same album...it's really quite humorous in it's own right and it's a real fun song to listen to...another "Pirate" parody, I might be thinking...
