The Lyrics

You'll have to guess who this is about, but the song has a lot of clues. This OS is a heart-breaking song off of Tori's "Choirgirl Hotel" album from around 1997. I think the mournful tone of that piece fits my lyrics just about perfectly. Lyrics in {brackets} sung during instrumental parts

[Instrumental intro]

{Nowwe're at Warin Iraq}
{Don't know what for}
{They did nothave anyone}
{on those planes in New York}

Al Queda warnings; I did ignore
I let you down; priorities were f*cked up
Then Al Queda's planes hit those Twin Towers
Was tragic, but
It worked outfor me
It let me push my policies
of things I want-
wanted done for me

I rushed us all off to Iraq
So I got the War I wanted
So I could topple Hussein
And place our friend, Chalabi, on the throne
Told the World he'd work like a charm
But they said, "No"
Called me "A-Hole" plenty
So I went after Hussein
But when we captured him
The War; it did not end

[instrumental break]
{That War did not end}
{and it gets worse}
{with every passing day}

I never fought in
A real War myself
Instead I hid
Beneath bar stools

I take no blame
No shame that I've caused
Pain and Death to American Soldiers

I let bin Laden slip off to his cave
Al Queda's boss; I let him escape

I've made things much worse in the World
Just like some haywire dummy
That Iraq War's completely insane
The cost's become so great, it sure has grown
The whole World has been brought to harm
'cause I'm a dope
an "A-Hole Dummy"
But I still won't take no blame
For men lost in vain
More lives I will spend

[instrumental break]
{I will spend more lives}
{lives down the drain, in vain}
{Don't mean sh*t to me}
{Because}

I'msuch a loser

At Homedisenchantment grows
Public thinks my War smells
Too many have died
Too muchWar and Gore there
And now they're just sodamn fed up

Ain't budged me so far; I still lurch
I won't replace that Rummy
I won't
While still more soldier's end up in graves
It costs no skin off of my nose
The whole World is now up in arms
I am so loathed
called "A-Hole" by many
I'm so loathedand so's Karl Rove
I've done youall...suchhar-ar-arm

Thanks, Yoidy...still don't know when that will be, do we? But getting out is going to be more complicated than getting in was, though, that's pretty much a certainty.
