Original Song Title:

Original Performer:

They Might Be Giants

Parody Song Title:

"Buffalo (and Minneapolis)"

Parody Written by:

Rex Ungericht

The Lyrics

Doesn't follow the exact meter of the "Giants" song, but you can sing it to the tune (at least I can).
Buffalo and Minneapolis
Know the pain of always being second best
Had great teams, but everytime they swung they missed
When they played the Super Bowl

Four times to the Super Bowl, Buffalo
Minneapolis did the same you know
Just not all four appearances in a row
They managed to lose each one

Even Baltimore has won a Super Bowl
How they did it I can't say
Trent Dilfer led their offense that day

All the fans in Minneapolis
Know what Buffalo fans are dealing with
And I'm sure that they're all so very pissed
Neither team can get a win -
They both just take it on the chin

Super Bowl
Super Bowl

Even Tampa Bay has won a Super Bowl
Stopped a powerful Raiders team
With a better defensive scheme

I'm a Viking from Minneapolis
And I and Buffalo fans, we both exist
To field a team that finally will consist
Of players that win it all '"
Or maybe we'll just watch basketball

Well you can't go back and replay those Super Bowls
We'd like to go back and replay those Super Bowls
Been so long since we played a Super Bowl
The Vikings and Bills are cursed
Which team will get a title first

Super Bowl

Don't forget Baltimore has actually won 2 super bowls... see super bowl V when the colts beat the cowboys. good work here.

I was gonna write "I... lost the Super Bowl last night! No partying today!" (To "I... wanna rock and roll all night...") But I kind of lost interest in it after Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb lost interest in proper clock management! If you're a Viking fan, you might want to check out "I Vike It Like That (Minnesota Football Blues)."

LooseK, My profound apologies to the good people of Baltimore for the implication that the city only one Super Bowl (of course, it is true that the Ravens have only won one... :-))

I guess you can make the meter fit by pronouncing Minneapolis as "mih-NEE'-uh-poh-lis' instead of 'min-nee-A-poh-lis'.

At least Buffalo and Minny have MADE the Superbowl since the 60s. 5s from this Jets fan...

(Sports) Hey now, what's up with the "Even Baltimore won the Super Bowl???" =) How did we win it with Dilfer, okay that's a fair question. But I think Baltimore won it in the 50s or 60s as well when the Colts were in town. I'm from Baltimore, can you tell? Well done, that improved the song in my book!

(SPORTS) Still hard to pronounce, but clever. :)

ditto what agrimorfee said. Also, minneapolis basketball hasn't been looking too good lately either. Not that I'm really one to talk as a knicks fan.

I had no problem making it work. Fun stuff.

(sports) I've only been to one American Football game. It was at Candlestick Park, and it was O.J.Simpson's last game, in his last season ('79) when he played for San Francisco. I still have the photo I took of him running his last ten yards. The 49ers took off after that and I was "rooting" for them when they won the Superbowl in the early 80s - building up to....I love the Superbowl, Rex! - 555

(Sports). The first 4 Superbowl being broadcasted on a station that I could see, and that I saw, was those four ones lost by the Minnesota Vikings. I really rooted for them the fourth time. Not that it helped...

How many Super Bowls will the New England Patriots win before the Bills or the Vikings win their first? Good job of expressing their futility.

(Sports) "I’m a Viking from Minneapolis" put a funny image into my head !
