I've had bits on this parody in my head since the first time I heard the original. Finding this site about a week ago prompted me to sit down and flesh everything out. It's my first full parody... hope you like it. This is for all the guys you knew weren't going to last past the first commercial
ON THE AWAY TEAM

Called Me up just to let me know
They had picked me to be on the show
Asked me if my uniform was starched and pressed
Had to go had and catch up on my rest

So excited that I couldn't even sleep
So many stars I'd get to meet
Thought I'd be on the show for weeks
I'll be the one that they want to keep

Big day comes there's problems below
Me and Spock and Bones have to go
Why are all the folks telling me goodbye?

On the Away Team Never Coming Back
That's Life as an extra on Star Trek
Seems Like I should be getting my props
Told me to leave or their gonna call the cops

I can't remember the last time I smiled
Shatner told me I'd last a little while
How on Rigel did I get shot so fast?
Who knew these aliens had optic blasts?

I can't go on with all this shame
Thought this was my big shot at fame
Here I am missin' all those guys
Especialy little George Takei

Everthing seemed so cut and dry
Roddenberry said I had to die
Wait a minute can't we discuss this?

On the Away Team Never Coming Back
That's Life as an extra on Star Trek
Seems Like I should be getting my props
Told me to leave or their gonna call the cops

Only stranger on the Away Team
Got blasted by an optic beam
No supplies, ointments, or cremes
Nothing more it's "Cut - End Scene"

On the Away Team Never Coming Back
That's Life as an extra on Star Trek
Seems Like I should be getting my props
Told me to leave or their gonna call the cops

On the Away Team Never Coming Back
On the Away Team Gonna Get Whacked
On the Away Team Life is a Drag
Beam Me Up in a Body Bag

Never watched Star Trek - have no idea whatsoever what you are talking about, but I still found it hilarious! Good job!

Nice job, but one nitpick: In Kirk's time, they were called "landing parties." The term "away team" didn't come along, at least as far as viewers could see, until Picard's time. Hey, if I didn't pick nits, what kind of Trek fan would I be?

I think that was really good, Chad!
