Parody Song Title:

"Men Who Were Loons"

Parody Written by:

Merry & Pippin

The Lyrics

Shot the people, Stalin's reign was rife
Pop, pop, pop, pop
Eighth King Henry killed two wives of his batch
Chop, chop, chop, chop
Monotony, genocide, people oppressed
Mao, Mao, Mao, Mao
Benny Mussolini left a bloody mess
Ciao, Ciao, Ciao, Ciao
Let's play murder, let's be brisk
La, la, la, la
The failures of Hitler really made him pissed
Ja, Ja, Ja, Ja

Imelda, were you Ferdinand's flunky?
Tell me, were you shopping at lunch?
Wifey's on a shoe fling so selfish
Hey Ferdy, were you losing touch?

Lots were deceived by these bad men who were loons
Men who were loons
If you believed their propaganda weave
Then you ain't too cool

Tito, he stuck it to the Slavs so good
Flee, flee, flee, flee
Franco played hard 'cause he knew he could
Sí, sí, sí, sí
Saddam and doubles were all pains in the ass
Hack, hack, hack, hack
Manuel Noriega well he had no class
Crack, crack, crack, crack

Now Jimmy Jones was not to be outdone
Served his people nasty fruit punch
Jimmy, your intentions were amiss
When baby, Jonestown wasn't fun

Lots were deceived by these bad men who were loons
Men who were loons
If you believed their propaganda weave
Then you ain't too cool

Idi Amin Dada was a heavy deceiver
Bulk, bulk, bulk, bulk
Leo Galtieri did that island thing
Falk, Falk, Falk, Falk
Question Pol Pot, he'll send in his beaters
Phuc, Phuc, Phuc, Phuc
And Kim-Il-Sung II's been oppressing (frizzling hair)
Sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks

Now narcissism's dear to Juan Peron
Castro makes me toss up my lunch
Ho Chi Minh, I'd kick in the pelvis
Mugabe, what a losing bunch

Lots were deceived by these bad men who were loons
Men who were loons
If you believed their propaganda weave
Then you ain't too cool

(Repeat X 3)

Isn't REM a kind of sleep? ... DKTOS, of course, given PR's ID of this as 90s. Good job, and surprised no one commented on sneaking through your Cambodian expletives, not to mention the ones above them. Fives for that alone!

Thanks for dropping by this one Tommy! This was one of our 'sleepers' at the time, which was disappointing as we were quite proud of it. I haven't looked at it for ages, but it still reads well and I was giggling though it. Varying the little repeat stanzas was the most fun. Glad you liked 'phuc'. I personally liked our Mao/ciao combo myself. The OS is very enjoyable; check it out:

I REM'ed through this one (the OS) too, and was glad Pip introduced me to it. I keep it on my MP3 player now.

The various repeated words are what really makes this beyond the average parody. Phuc'n A!

Artistry - What great and original concept! You have a good "shot" at this one...

Lovely trip around the loony bin. Although the way the page is rendering characters I can't see your Si, see?

(Artistry) Man, what a bunch of dictators. I didn't recognise half of these guys, but the juxtaposition of their horrific acts and the vaguely cheery OS made up for my lack of knowledge. 555!

Original idea, well executed. . .I'm a tad surprised you didn't enter "Choosing My Religion" likely just because it's a personal favorite of mine among your parodies

Thanks to the round of contest voters!

Dave, we considered it, but it was in a contest back in the day, and this one never got much attention. Plus the OS deserves more exposure.
