The Lyrics

Gunsmoke and McCloud star, Dennis Weaver dies at age 81
Cowboy hat, and grey/black hair
This cop caught bad guys everywhere
A horse, in New York, rode it there
He played McCloud that way

Old TV westerns, his debut
As Chester Goode, the part rang true
A limping deputy, we knew
He played, "Gunsmoke" that way

The firm environmental one
Always the vegeterian
But, now his time on earth is done
McCloud..

His greatest movie role was, "Duel"
That trucking road rage film was cool
Produced by Spielberg for TV
Dennis rarely did a big screen movie
A favorite part was McCloud, he'd say

In Colorado, built his home
An environmental earthship dome
Of recycled tires, cans and foam
Solar powered all the way...

Down in Missouri he was born
His down home accent never torn
Just a lay back guy with boots well worn
Like McCloud, he was that way

We'll watch McCloud on reruns now
On TV Land, somewhere, somehow
Those great illusions, to recall

And be glad we did know, be glad we did know
So glad we did know, so glad we did know
Really glad we did know..
McCloud, after all

Wow, a Nine Inch Nails parody a while back, and now a Hole parody from you. Hole?! Unfortunately I DKTOS or the shows/actor but I'm pleased to see a mostly forgotten alternative group/song parodied here.

DKTOS, but nice tribute. If you've never seen Dennis in "Touch of Evil," it's worth a watch, as is the whole film, which opens with, supposedly, the longest uncut tracking shot in filmdom. Downside: Charlton Heston as a Mexican.

Thanks, Red Ant...but, I can't believe there's someone who never heard of "Gunsmoke" or at least, "McCloud"...old tv shows, but still around on Tv Land.............................And thanks, John...oh yeah, I did see that film, and had forgotten Dennis was in it..

Don't forget that Dennis Weaver was Steven Speilberg's first leading man in Duel!
