The Lyrics

I wrote this parody as an April Fools Day gift for a friend of mine who is really into a nifty little car made back in the 1960s by Chevrolet, called a Corvair. All of the information about the model years, technical aspects and all that were provided by my friend. *"'60 to six-nine": The Chevrolet Corvair was manufactured from 1960 to 1969. *"Corvan": The early-1960s competitor to the Volkswagen Bus, which eventually turned into what we now just call a Chevy van after the motor was moved up front and it was redesigned several times over. *"The book": "Unsafe at any Speed" by Ralph Nader (the book that took the Corvair off the market. *"Flat-six": A six-cylinder engine with horizontal cylinders. Porsche refined the design into their current engine. "Lethal axles in the back": The faulty rear suspension design of the Corvair was what prompted Mr. Nader to write "Unsafe at any Speed" along with other problems like the whole car being flimsy and an outright death trap. "Frontal engines": The Corvair had its engine in back like a Volkswagen or a Porsche.
Oh, I love that car
The Chevy Corvair
That doomed car cooled by air
The best GM made
I own one of each
’60 to six-nine*
And I saw the surprise
And the fear in his eyes
When I parked next to a re-stored Corvan*
And I tore up the book*
Said, Nader, you might be right
But you'll never hear me complain

‘Bout how Nader hates the Cor-vairs
With the old flat-six*
And the lethal axles in the back*
No, they’re not unsafe
I'm not big on frontal engines*
Think I'll slip on down to the Chevron station
And see all my friends with Corvairs

Well, I guess he was wrong
Before their time, they were long
But then, so’s the V-dubya Bug
Everything's all right
I'll have a good night
And I'll have good time with the club
With our show-and-shine
Just give me the ole Turtle-Wax
Then my car’ll be
As shiny as that
Big rock on your ring finger

‘Bout how Nader hates the Cor-vairs
With the old flat-six
And the lethal axles in the back
No, they’re not unsafe
I'm not big on frontal engines
Think I'll slip on down to the Chevron station
And see all my friends with Corvairs

GREAT car! And even greater parody, Andria.

Thanks, Mark. Corvairs are great cars, I'd have to agree. My friend enjoyed this parody, BTW.
