And they got to talking
But they had more important things to say

Everyone could see
The storm they were tracking could get real strong
They knew it was coming, it wouldn't be long
It looked like a small one
But, oh my, how wrong they'd be
Once it hit the water out if the gulf down there
It jumped to class 5 and they really got scared
Her name is Katrina
and what a nightmare she'll be
We'll see...

The nation looked up
This storm was a-brewin'
With poor that can't afford to get away
The landfall came and left the towns in ruins
With nothing but flooding and death for MS and LA

Now the country sees
The road are all flooded inside those towns
No one is talking, the lines are all down
And hundreds are missing
They feared they had drowned that day
You can see the people pleading for help down there
From Red Cross or FEMA, they really don't care
They wanted a rescue
They needed it there today, TODAY!

The rescuing efforts were way too small
There's thousands of people, they can't help them all
