Actually, The Avengers is a 1960's TV show from Britain. It's basically like James Bond with a bit more of a detective feel to it. It starred Patrick Macnee as John Steed, along with any one of the following female actresses as his sidekick: Honor Blackman as Cathy Gale (1962-1965), Diana Rigg as Emma Peel (1965-1968), or Linda Thorson (1968-1969). Actually, it wasn't always like this. When the show began in 1961, it starred Ian Hendry as David Keel, with Steed being his sidekick. Steed was promoted to main character status in the 2nd season.
