The Lyrics

Do do do do do do do do, do do do do do do do do
Do do do do do do do do, do do do do do do do do

I am driving down the highway
And my kids are in the back seat
They are asking "are we there yet"
Like they couldn't tell from looking

And they whine "when will we be there"
So I tell them "when we get there"
They start pounding on the windows
And somebody starts to scream

Do do do do do do do do, do do do do do do do do
Do do do do do do do do, do do do do do do do do

I just got a splitting headache
From the pounding and the screaming
And the woman who's beside me
She is reading a novella

And she looks the other way
As they're wiggling their toes
And I'm pretending not to have this
Smelly foot beside my face

Do do do do do do do do, do do do do do do do do
Do do do do do do do do, do do do do do do do do

I pull into a diner
There's a special on the meatloaf
But the kids don't want to eat it
They would rather have a pizza

And "there's something crawling on my plate"
"This mayonnaise smells funny"
Now I'm feeling something kicking me
And so I pull my hair

Do do do do do do do do, do do do do do do do do
Do do do do do do do do, do do do do do do do do

There's a couple at the table
Over there, they look so happy
Now they're flirting with each other
And I'm getting an erection

And I'm trying not to notice
There is cole slaw in my hair
And while the kids have fun with liquids
My pants have gotten wet

Do do do do do do do do, do do do do do do do do
Do do do do do do do do, do do do do do do do do

This vacation, is it over
How much longer, are we home yet
To the sound of television

I can't wait to go to work

Do do do do do do do do, do do do do do do do do
Do do do do do do do do, do do do do do do do do

Porfle, you should have done "Mom's Driving". I can still my mom's multi-tasking while driving our Ambassador sedan with one hand on the wheel and the other beating us in the back bench seat!!!

My dad did the driving and the backseat crowd control when I was growing up!

This has probably been my favorite parody that you've written so far. Well done sir. It totally reminds me of "National Lampoon's Vacation".

Wow, thanks! It was partially inspired by "Vacation" but mostly by my dad, although he'd have never let us get away with so much.

Nice one. And quite realistic, too...

Thanks! I was hoping people could relate to it.

I did one of this OS called RIP (Rest in Peace) Hotel, But I also find this parody very much to my liking! :-) 5's!

(AofA) I think this topic needed to be pushed further. It was funny, don't get me wrong, but it could've been funnier. Overall, really good job, just push the envelope a little more.

Thanks! Food for thought.

NIce work, but I agree with Blaydeman...it just kind of ended...no real flow of the story. Very funny, but I would have liked to see a better ending.

I couldn't think of a way to squeeze in the part where they all get eaten by zombies!

(Ages) Great one, Porf! Yeah, you influenced the typicality of father's who drive to road trips for their vacations, while the kids are driving....well, driving the dad nuts, obviously. Very nostalgic. Also reminded me of my dad as well, he did all the driving, poor Dad.

Thanks! Oh, those golden memories...

AGES...I love this OS for telling this kind of a rambling story...and this was great. Can totally see the frustrated father nodding his head and trying to be patient while singing along... :)

Thanks, glad you liked it!

(Ages) It's a pity nothing was done to the incessant "do do"'s, but otherwise this was quite amusing. The dad getting aroused was just so out of place I cracked up laughing. 555!

Thanks! I just couldn't bear to mess with those "do do"s.

(AofA) I did a parody a lot like this called "Quit That" http://www.amiright.com/parody/2000s/theoffspring97.shtml. Over pretty funny, the lack of ending trew it off for me as well, but I totally relate to the idea.
