The Lyrics

You say we've got nothing in common
Plus I make you want to vomit
Just cause I smell like pee
You say we're surely not the same species
And you're not amused by your feces
But I know you're made for me

And I said, "What about 'Weekend At Bernie's'?"
She said, "Hey, that's right, I forgot;
We both really hated it; that changes everything
I'm getting all dizzy; I must be in love"

And then, things were okay for awhile
Til you were cramping my style
Thought I was in a rut
That's when, you caught me with your sister
You said that's it for you mister
And tossed me out on my butt

And I said, "What about that episode of the 'A-Team'?"
She said, "Damn your impossible charms;
I love it when a plan comes together
Come here you stallion; impregnate me now."

And I said, "What about that commercial where the guy goes 'whazzup'?"
She said, "Stop that; I'm getting all moist....."

"Weekend at Bernie's" is an ingenious sub for "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and I love the rhymes, particularly in the first verse. Claude rulez. 555.

Now that we've dispensed of the formalities, you've managed to hit three of my sore spots with this parody, so allow me three rants:

(1) For its sheer volume of dead-wood lyrics, the song "Breakfast at Tiffany's" irritates me. Example: What could be said in three words - "We liked it" - they stretch out to twelve: "And as I recall I think we both kind of liked it." The whole damn chorus is like that. Somebody please force those deep blue somethings to take a creative writing class.

(2) I love love love Audrey Hepburn in the flick. I would stalk her if she wasn't dead. But I struggle to accept a world where her character and Mickey Rooney's embarrassingly unfunny chineyman inhabit the same film. It wrecks the movie for me. Hey, Blake Edwards, please get off your ass (or Julie Andrews's) and make a new director's cut of B@T's without Mickey Rooney. I'm begging you.

(3) I hate "Weekend at Bernie's." Despise it. Abhor it. Worse than I hate any other movie. And that's saying a lot, coming from a guy who's seen "Message in a Bottle."

I feel better now. Thanx, C4P.

...shoot, I didn't even know I wanted to say all of that, but um... what Spaff said, minus the stalking of Ms. Hepburn... she's not my type. I *HATE* the original song -- for all the reasons Spaff gave and because of when it came out and who actually tried to use that song in the same way the guy in the song tries to use the movie, not realizing that I already hated it. I LOVE what you did to it, Claude! (Almost as much as I hate the original song -- which, believe you me, is a whole lotta love!) Do it again, do it again!!! :)
