Who drinks an old cup of Joe these days? Maybe good for Dunkin' Donuts, but not Starbucks! 4-4-4. Even McDonald's has a range of blends!!!

Technically Annie, no. The "Cup of Joe" by chronology originated in 1914 when the Sectetary of the Navy, Josephus Daniels, ordered that alcohol was no longer permitted on US Navy ships. The sailors turned to coffee which was the next strongest beverage allowed. Joe originates from Josephus and the coffee was black. Even later the term "Cup of Joe" at truck stops, restaurants, etc... meant a cup of black coffee. Then came instant coffee, decaf, and thousands of other types hot & cold. If you go to Starbucks and ask for a "Cup of Joe" they'll look at you A) either as a fool or B) ask you if you want black, or C) ask you to be more specific. Ask a Veteran from WW2 what he thinks a cup of Joe was/is to him. It's a cup of hot, black coffee, usually poured immediately. No sugar, no cream... Lattes, Mochas, Fraps in Grande or Venti are not mere cups of Joe. And iced coffee? No way! The other view of coffee for the average Joe is not substantiated historically. It is a secondary belief, but the coffee would still be served black in proper context.

OK Rob, I understand. I got the inspiration to write the parody and immediately sat down to write it. I'm like that. 😊 It's either use it or lose it. And it makes it easier for me to write if I have ideas. I don't personally call coffee joe. If I order it somewhere like McDonalds I ask for a double double. All in all, coffee arguments aside, what did you think of the parody? 😊
