The Lyrics

Public acceptance of Gay individuals in the United States is growing. The behavior of responsible, law abiding homosexuals has demonstrated to many that their life-style does not pose a mortal threat to the Republic. The ludicrous rantings of hate mongers such as the Westboro Baptist Church have backfired, in the extreme. A number of States have voted, in popular referendums, or in their legislatures to recognize same-sex marriages or civil unions. This is a trend that has momentum. Still, there are those in the gay community who feel the need to bully the public through the courts rather than wait just a little longer for peaceful change. I think this is going to bring about needless backlash and resentment. Just to mention a couple of cases that were widely publicized on the internet, is it really that hard to find a gay (or straight) baker to produce a wedding cake or a photographer to take the pictures, without going through a lawyer? If your only resort is the court, you haven't made your case well enough. Warning: this parody may contain stereotypes and graphic imagery. Otherwise I would not have written it.
Do you hear the church bells ring
Ringing a tune for married men?
It is the music of the union
Of two dudes named Dave and Ben
When the meeting of their parts
Led to reciting of their vows
There is a rite about to start
Where the law allows

"Do you take this man to be
Your lawfully wedded--what's the word?"
This whole thing's rather new
And all the preachers haven't heard
A term to reflect
That some changes have lately occurred

Do you hear the Phelpses scream?
They are the spawn of Angry Man
It is the ranting of some loonies
Who protest when e're they can
When the thumping on their heads
Sounds like the beating of a drum
There is some strife about to start
When the bikers come

Will you live and say "Let live"
Or will you take a phobic stance?
Guys with guys and dolls with dolls
It's truly not your father's dance
Who'll lead and who'll follow
With both partners wearing the pants?

Do you hear the judge decree
That which the voters would not pass?
It's not democracy the way you learned
In school in history class
Though the public has its say
It doesn't mean the matter shuts
'til some man in a long, black dress
Shoves it up their butts

Great title and parody-555! I support Gaga and agree with LGBT rights, but don't think an aggressive political or social agenda is really needed. And comparisons to the Civil Rights Movement is a joke. Blacks, primarily suffered chattel slavery and other injustices for 400 years. The Gay Community fought Anita Bryant since the '70s and AIDS discrimination from the '80s- a few decades over basically sexual orientation and questions of unions. There's been a longer fight over pot!!!

Are there gays who abstain from sex until they are legally married? A thought that just occurred to me. Thanks to all who have read and responded so far.
