Song Parodies -> "'60s Cartoon"

Original Song Title:

"I Love You"

Original Performer:

Barney and the Backyard Gang

Parody Song Title:

"'60s Cartoon"

Parody Written by:

Robert D. Arndt Jr.

The Lyrics

"Space Ghost" mentioned by Jon. I never saw the series nor SGC2C. I think it was made by Hanna-Barbera...
'60s Cartoon,
Tad Ghostal friendly,
Flight, power rays, invisibility
Outer Space sidekicks loved,
Always fighting enemies as a crew,
Like: Zorak, Brak, Metallus, and a Spider Lady too!

'60s cartoon,
Jan, Jacen , and monkey (Blip),
Space Ghost usually had to set them free,
Prevailed as such,
Belt that Grants put to much use,
Intangibility, teleportation, were some really cool tools!

"Bad bug, bad bug / Whatcha gonna do / Whatcha gonna do when the Ghost zaps you? / Bad bug, bad bug / Whatcha gonna do / Whatcha gonna do when you're barbecue?"

[Space Ghost lets fly some energy bolts]

Some things you might not know about SG

HERVÉ VILLECHAIZE SIGNED UP TO PLAY SPACE GHOST’S SIDEKICK. Sadly, the Fantasy Island actor committed suicide during pre-production for the series

NASA NAMED ROCKS ON MARS AFTER CHARACTERS. Space Ghost, Zorak, Moltar, and Brak became names of Mars rocks after NASA’s Pathfinder mission in 1997

Rob, here's an episode of C2C. and one of the funnier ones in my opinion:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpJDTJFy_Wg&spfreload=10
sadly, the show was recently scaled back to only airing Sunday nights where I live. along with it's spinoff, "The Brak Show." anyway, since you like adult swim, have you checked out the new "Samurai Jack" yet? like SGC2C, it originated on the regular Cartoon Network, and recently came to adult swim. unlike C2C, it aired new episodes and concluded last Saturday. now, I never paid the show that much attention when it was on CN, but these new adult swim episodes were pretty great! with the exception of how the show ended. it had one of those "deep" depressing endings I recently complained about in a parody. seriously, how can people still call happy endings "cliche" when they are never, ever, under any circumstances, used anymore? okay, enough plugging/ranting, but there's a marathon of SJ's final adult swim episodes this Saturday night, if you haven't seen it yet. as for the parody, 455.

Thanks Jon! The only cartoon series I have from the '60s is "The Herculoids."
CML - May 27, 2017 - Report this comment
(Ears pricking up) Did someone just mention "The Herculoids?" Didn't they live somewhere out in space?
Rob Arndt - May 27, 2017 - Report this comment
Yes, sorta like a Tarzan family who rejects technology and lives with weird animals and life forms. There have been rumors of a live action/CGI movie for decades. I had a thing for Tara when I was young!
CML - May 27, 2017 - Report this comment
I had a thing for Tara, too. Every once in a while, that thing would require a readjustment in my pants crotch area to give it a little breathing space .... No wait, it was Yvonne Craig forced me to do that
CML Joke Explaining Guy - May 27, 2017 - Report this comment
BTW, Rob, I dont know if you caught the reference to the catchphrase for the Herculoids, which was repeated at the start of every episode, to wit: "Somewhere out in space lived the Herculoids."
Itchy and Scratchy - May 27, 2017 - Report this comment
Didn't the Herculoids live on an assteroid, and wasn't the sponsor Preparation H?
Irritated - May 27, 2017 - Report this comment
The sponsor was Preparation A.
Chloe A. Cur - May 27, 2017 - Report this comment
Isn't Preparation H used to rectify the back channel of the tushner?
Rob Arndt - May 27, 2017 - Report this comment
The Herculoids home planet was Quasar and the land where they lived was called Amzot.
Rob Arndt - May 30, 2017 - Report this comment
Space Ghost also knew the Herculoids. I think they had a crossover episode on one of the series.

Btw CML, do you remember the '60s cartoon "Moby Dick and the Mighty Mightor?" It had a red headed version of Tara named Sheera!
CML - May 30, 2017 - Report this comment
A redheaded version of Tara? The hell you say! How did that one slip under my radar screen?
Billy Baxton - May 31, 2017 - Report this comment
CML: Slipped under your radar screen are merely a couple of theater ticket stubs, a used Kleenex, and lots of dust. But, to be precise, from under your radar – your electromagnetic radar – nothing is returned and, as you sadly know, definitely not the image of a redheaded version of Tara. And if you could look even deeper you might find that your decades-old, apocalyptic cartoon fantasies have become a horrible reality, as you and the other kids here live out the arrested development of your middle age.
Freddy Freeman - May 31, 2017 - Report this comment
Billy is as right as rain! To those who mistakenly think that "begs the question" means "invites the question" instead of "avoids the question," you may also have been futilely "pushing the envelope." The so-called envelope defines the boundaries of some scope of activity or knowledge. Pushing that envelope around won't change the capacity of its contents, as you so avidly hope. You must "push the edges of the envelope."

Now who can argue with Billy Baxton and Freddy Freeman? I think we're all indebted to these two erudite gentlemen for clearly stating what needed to be said. I'm particularly glad that our lovely newbies were here to read these posts. Not only were they authentic 21st century cybertroll gibberish, but they expressed insight about barely remembered 60's cartoons little seen at this website
Freddy Freeman - May 31, 2017 - Report this comment
CML, thank you for alluding my lovely, authentic gibberish to the literary masterpiece "Blazing Saddles." Who indeed can argue with what Billy Baxton and I clearly stated and needed to be said? Ribbit!
