Princess Leia was born 19 BBY at Polis Massa and grew up on Alderaan where she became Senator and later became a General in the New Republic after Alderaan's destruction. The non-canon Legacy series has her going further as Chief of State of the New Republic and a Jedi Knight. There is no death date given for her although 43 ABY (age 62) is the last we read of her... Her original birth name is Leia Amidala Skywalker.

^ just heard the bad news over the car radio! I know nobody lives forever, and that she was pretty old already, but I'd hoped she'd be around at least another 5-10 years! at least her & Carrie weren't apart long, but dang! ya know what 2016? I'm glad you're almost over! you're mean!
Carrie Fisher is survived by her daughter, Billie Catherine Lourd who starred in Scream Queens and Star Wars: The Force Awakens in one scene as Lt. Connick who will have a bigger role in Episode VIII. She will also be taking care of her mother's dog Gary.
