What does smashing a store window have to do with protesting against police excesses? I wonder how that one fellow got shot. Was he a rioter who got in the face of someone who isn't trained in self-restraint to the extent that cops are?
Rob Arndt - September 22, 2016 - Report this comment
The cop was Black too! Keith Scott's brother called White cops and White people "White Devils"... go figure. Was pissed that CPD was overwhelmed early on and the Mayor took too long to call for reinforcements. Assaulting media doesn't help either.

^ you know I saw a black woman try to physically attack a guy who was reporting on the story on I believe it was Fox News last night even if it costs them their jobs as anchormen/women I think the next time someone comes at them like that they should beat the everloving spit out of them! 455

There's a big, violent protest one block away from my house. A mob of upper middle-class whites have thrown themselves in front of a city bus which is carrying its legal weight limit — two 1-ton black women. They each occupy half the bus seats, and yet have paid single fares. The outraged whites have tried unsuccessfully to overturn the bus. Weight Watchers is on the scene, waiting and watching. The whites are shouting, "Extra fare for extra fat." Yes, they're using the F-word. Still others are throwing kale at the bus. It's really turned ugly. And now... now Jenny Craig is moving us back and... my God, she's been stabbed with a carrot... Now the white mob has broken into Health Nuts and is looting quinoa, flax seed, and anything organic not nailed down. There has been a fatality: the guy dressed like a chicken outside KFC has been plucked to death and broasted. Now the store has been set on fire... It's burst into flames! Get out of the way! Please! Oh my, this is terrible... Oh, the poultry!

I like Rob's line that rioting (which just hurts more innocent people) renders any social injustice point moot.

Thanks Lucy, but be careful... someone might label you a racist for coherency!

It's very telling that while, once again, there is video of another possibly unjustified killing of a black man by the police, the author chooses to skew the narrative to the acts of a few violent thugs. It's your right to do so, but it's a diversion. No, neither the actions of the punks nor your avoidance of the real story makes the social injustice issue moot. In your dreams, Rob, Patrick, Lucy, etc.!

I remember as a kid watching the Rodney King riots and asked my dad how breaking into a shop and stealing a 32" television set is justice. My dad told me that violence and lawlessness is the black man's solution to everything in a crisis. Higher reasoning is beyond them. I thought as time changed so would this idea. But sadly, it's the same MO riot after riot. Btw, Scott did have a loaded gun and refused to drop it despite 11 demands by police in 45 seconds. Getting out of the car with the gun sealed his fate IMO. He should have complied. Compliance is surely better than death. Same for every other case too.

Witness/Rob: More than 100 years ago, minstrel shows featured the cakewalk, a parody of uppity whites. Likewise, the looting that you see by a very few blacks is like a mirror held up to our mainstream obsession with owning "stuff." Many of the poor equate "stuff" with success. Do some thinking. Understand the motives of other peoples. Imagine yourself in their place.

Wrong person, moron. I was a kid in the 1970s! Do the math. LA riots were in 1992. I was 28 then. FYI

The gun, btw, is a Colt Mk.IV Series Mustang .380 Auto [Serial: RR05501]

I must admit, Rob, that I am too new around here to know your age, and I don't see why you expect me or anyone to know it. But I do recognize your writing style and point of view. Therefore, I stick to my ID of you.
More to the point (and giving a PD-style description of the gun is NOT the point), I am impressed that after flirtations with the Black Panthers and other militant groups in the 1960s, Blacks have been amazingly faithful to passive resistance, even in the face of the quiet (and not so quiet) insults they endure daily for the mistake of being born black in America. If it were happening to you, would you go beyond mimicking white values and possibly succumb to rage?
Rob Arndt - September 25, 2016 - Report this comment
That's the point C, most vets here of age know I am 52 and there are plenty of Republicans here as well. So taking any Right-wing comment and add a gun doesn't pin me to anything. Patrick loves guns too and is Independent-Right leaner. Others have conservative opinions too. Because I sometimes do parodies with Christian themes, people think any Christian comment is mine as well. Not the case. I usually include scripture in my comments or display depth of knowledge in areas of Gap Theory, Dinosaurs, Angels, the Crucifixion, etc... And lastly, there are too many pseudonyms here when controversies arise. You are using one yourself!
Coherent - September 25, 2016 - Report this comment
Rob: Is your takeaway from the Charlotte shooting on the one night when there was black thug violence that, therefore, the "social injustice point is moot"? That's a direct quote from your parody. Nobody cares about your dinosaurs and angels, and my ID of you came from better forensics than your egregious gun description, which came later. Nevertheless, if the shoe also fits Patrick, you can both wear it. Bottom line: Will you analyze the Charlotte shooting and its contextual history, as I have taken the trouble to begin, or will you continue to obfuscate, divert, and take foolish potshots?

You can stop thread-camping now C. A parody is a parody. Far from Coherent, you're a mere Commentator. Go write your own parodies of perceived police brutality...

You have nothing of substance or reason to say about the controversial subject of your own parody. The parody is laced with pejoratives like WTF and F-ck and drags in Kaepernick for no discernible rhyme or reason. Useless as entertainment and useless as information. Never mind insight -- you can't even muster emotion. No wonder you will not defend it!
Rob Arndt - September 25, 2016 - Report this comment
Kaepernick is a ref to his support of BLM and hatred of police. His refusal to stand at the playing of the national anthem controversy. Maybe you should follow events more closely. I added it because I love the Black Lives Matter signs intermixed with intimidation, violence, assaulting reporters, looting, and shooting a man for no good reason at the so-called "peaceful protest!"
Coherent - September 26, 2016 - Report this comment
Got it! Kaepernick makes a cameo appearance in your parody because he supports BLM and there are BLM signs at the overwhelmingly peaceful protests and the protests are about yet another shooting of a black man under circumstances which are in dispute and BLM is a response to black men and a black boy being shot or strangled by cops or banged around in a police van. Talk about degrees of separation! Somebody's dad taught well.
