The Lyrics

I really couldn't think of a good title for this... anyway, you'll notice a suspicious similarity between this and another song I submitted not too long ago; guess what people do far too often at Mudd? Also, please don't complain about the lack of change to the chorus - I like it that way.
It's twelve o'clock but I can't sleep;
Examine chem notes, piles of sheets.
I look through notes 3 inches deep,
Gotta read, though I feel beat.
Chapter read, my sight grows poor,
Turn the lights off I'll fail for sure.
So while my roommate's fast asleep,
I grab some Jolt, there's more to read.

Chorus:
Boot up, I write heaps,
I hard-code beeps,
I gotta do this CS then I'll catch sleep,
Check my watch, it's 5:00.
Who needs sleep?
Well you're never gonna get it.
Who needs sleep?
Tell me, what's that for?
Who needs sleep?
You're happy with what you get and there's a guy that's been awake
since beginning of frosh year.
Who needs sleep?
Well you're never gonna get it.
Who needs sleep?
Tell me, what's that for?
Who need sleep?
You're happy with what you get and there's a guy that's been awake
since beginning of frosh year.

I've got a cramp in both my wrists;
My PC's chomping piles of lists
that stand for trees and nth arrays
Before you know't come the sun's rays.
(Chorus)
So much joy in life so many pleasures all around
but the pleasure of this chem homework is one I've never found.
With all life has to offer, there's so much to be enjoyed
but the pleasures of this essay draft are ones I can't avoid.
(Chorus)
Who needs sleep?
Well you're never gonna get it.
Who needs sleep?
Tell me, what's that for?
Who needs sleep?
You hafta use what you get and there's a guy that's been awake since
beginning of frosh year.
(repeat x4)

As this parody reflects, Harvey Mudd does not admit dummies.

Judging by the great quality of this parody, I will guess that you didnt need *that* much sleep while writing it.

Instead of "Days of Wine and Roses", this could be "Days of Nine No-Doz's". Good job.

I know the feeling. It stinks working on homework and study all hours of the night. Very good parody.

You put tons of work into the pacing, which shows. But I got's ta dock ya 1 point somewhere for leaving too much of the refrain as it was. Too much of the original just rubs me the wrong way. Really good job overall, though. 5,4,5.

Gotta love Barenaked Ladies. Heh heh. Good job, and thanks for bringing back painful memories.

No painful memories here (this is why I'm a mailman now--so beware). Good job, though it didn't take my fives. Maybe I voted before in my sleep. PS thanks for loaning out the song.
