There have been some interesting comments on several songs about the use of racial epithets and lifestyle slurs. Just my observation: It's apparently OK to use terms like that if you're an insider appropriating them with other insiders; e.g., the gay characters on Will & Grace can get away with the term "fag," Chris Rock can use the n-word, Woody Allen can poke fun at Jews. But if you're not an insider or you're using the terms pejoratively, it's best to avoid hot-button words entirely. They are too often used to purposefully offend, so it shouldn't be surprising when offense is taken.

Well, I'm sorry that Enough has taken offense at that "hate" word. But here is the reason why we use it, 1: Fag can either be used as a insult to a straight guy who acts really fruity. 2: We are not doing an anit-gay thing here, we're just making fun of music and boy bands. 3: Eminem does it, and I don't see you taking a major stand against him. PS- Sorry if we offended you, we have no intentions of that, but if we think a boy band is fruity, then sorry but I will continue to insult them.

Three cheers for skewering boy bands. As lebeiw15 pointed out, this site is a great forum for that. But it's wise to remember that many people find words like "faggot" offensive, regardless of whom you're insulting with them. As for Eminem, he's intentionally offensive. He gets away with it because of his talent and popularity, but he still has plenty of detractors.
