The Lyrics

This song according to VH1 says 1989, Wikipedia say a single was released in 1985 and 1990--and it charted on Billboard in 1990 and 1991, so I just put 80s because it was released either at the end of the 80s or early 1990. I'm at

Yo Dairy Queen*, come serve it

Ice Cream Addict
Ice Cream Addict

Nuts on top, Caramel it glistens
Always new flavors so best pay attention
Eat fast? That may hurt your head slightly
Frozen so it's best when eaten lightly
Temp'rature's dropped, don't care though
Milk Shakes rock when it snows
Top them with cream and a cherry makes it taste whole
Hot fudge for glaze and two scoops served in a big bowl
Great; The Rocky Road consumes
but I think I'll have a Neapolitan split too
Fresh Pies; they aren't right with no ice cream
A La carte adds that kick that make the taste supreme
Churn it or Buy it; it always taste great
Just mix in diff'rent toppings to your taste
If you're on a diet, don't give up it
Light ice cream's good so c'mon and let's cup it

Ice Cream Addict Vanilla
Ice Cream Addict Chocolate
Ice Cream Addict Strawberry
Ice Cream Addict Add Hot Fudge

Now extra syrup I'm pumpin'
Throw some pecans in, down my throat I am dumping
Yogurt's too lean, it's too lean, ain't takin'
Anything that is fake is forsaken
Eatin' 'em; This is really simple
Just one scoop of Vanilla Fudge Ripple
If you like that, we can make that a triple
If you're still cold, fry it 'til it's dark gold
That trick's straight from Mexico
Throw some candy bits and I'll be sold
Getting a sugar high Think my mind has been fried
Your head stopped? I switched to light
I'll keep on eating 'til my pants pop
It's Ten-Nineteen and I'm out of Choc'late Chip stock
Store locked at ten man
But I'm willing to overpay, Seven-Eleven* foods
Cleared them out--Took all their Ben & Jerry's*
Sixteen gallons of some Slow churned Edy's*
Walmart--They're open all the time
Driving road rage-'cause I still need one with lime
Heading back home from it all
Now I'm feeling ill because my stomachs track has stalled
Pecans pumped out, felt like hell
Filled to my mind, so the doctors tell
Fin'lly got home and out I passed
Woke the next day, went to my stash
Cherry to Lemon, the Ice Box's packed
I'm need to eat today before the back pain's back
So do you all scream for that cold Ice Cream
Well if you don't; more for me--the Dairy King
If you are allergic, yo, don't try it
Hand it to me, and my stomach can hide it

Ice Cream Addict Banana
Ice Cream Addict Caramel
Ice Cream Addict Rocky Road
Ice Cream Addict Add Hershey's

My feed; caused my trainer to throw fits
I'll never get too lean; resolution I've blown it
Chow down on each and ev'ry flavor I've found
Almonds top great and I pack on the pounds
'cause the idea of a diet's no thrill
Should be a crime just to say all the speel
Orange sherbet I scorn
That is a taste I can't accept
It don't taste right, and no way it can help end this
Made-pure milk high grade Scooped like a sumo
Ate right after I paid, so fast the mint choc'late chip's crammed
If ice cream was a crime then I'd always be slammed
Try to resist it but I'm always seduced
Memorized by the cones and the fresh produce
Put bell peppers in it, didn't solve it
Just one more flavor and now I involve it

Ice Cream headache
I think my
Stomach's had it
My body's
Now reacting
I'm still an
Ice Cream Addict
My belly hurts

Yo man, my belly's really hurting
Lactose has set in
Ice Cream Addict--it's cold
I can't have it- it hurts, it hurts
Save me Pepto-- Bismol, Bismol
Ice Cream Addict-- no more, no more
Dairy Queen is a popular ice cream chain, Seven Eleven is a huge convenience store chain, Edy's & Ben & Jerrys are popular ice cream manufacturers.

Brilliant idea for this song. I've always loved this song so I'm glad you did it, although you had to for the Weird Al project, I'm glad it was done either way, This was a crazy epic song just about ice cream, which reminds me of that other "crazy" epic song of yours about potato chips.
Poop Pants - January 06, 2009 - Report this comment
Loved it very much...but TOS is from the 90s not the 80s (however it does contain a notable sample from an 80s' song). Still, the content is excellent, and I award you with a 555

As stated in the intro, I have found evidence both ways--1989 is the quoted year of released by VH1 and 1985 is mentioned in Wikipedia, but then contradicted directly under that. . .
The Spelling Police (also known as Andria) - January 06, 2009 - Report this comment
Dave, you should have written "stomach's" instead of "stomachs" in stanza 22 of verse 5. Despite that, you get 5s.
Christie Marie M - January 06, 2009 - Report this comment
I scream, you scream, we all scream 3 ice cream cones with 5 scoops in each of them! I'm in the mood for some ice cream myself! I happen to be an ice cream addict myself. My fave is Baskin Robbins, Friendly's and Dairy Queen.
Jason - January 06, 2009 - Report this comment
Great effort! Can't imagine anyone who was pathetic enough to leave that one vote **cough**Dr Music**cough** Never mind, have some cool 5s!
Poop Pants - January 06, 2009 - Report this comment
Oh okay. Sorry about that. I guess he recorded it then, so you may be ok. I still voted 555's on it.
Red Ant - January 06, 2009 - Report this comment
There's a few different versions of this song - which one is this to? I'd check YouTube, but, once again (like always it seems) it's loading insanely slow (which is one reason I said it sucked earlier - a free site is useless if it takes FOREVER to load a video, even with a 15Mb conection). I liked this, particularly "Hand it to me, and my stomach can hide it". lol.

Thank you Matthias--believe it or not when I chose this song it was because I had this idea for a long time and you gave me a great reason to write it out (Ages) Though it also happens to be part of two of the projects I am working on.

Poop Pants. I could be wrong or right--I figure either way everyone has heard this one, I try my best on decade accuracy, sometimes songs are hard to place, and when the big guys like MTV, VH1 and Wiki disagree--it's real hard to tell:)

Andria--I've released a monster, AAAHHH, thank goodness I record these -wink- :) Thank you

Christie Marie M--I'm sure this song only made that mood for ice cream stronger, I agree on all three chains, thank you

Jason. I don't know either, but thank you for your fives, I put a lot of extra effort and research in this one, even sat on it two days upon completion and came back to make sure I felt the same after a couple of days.

Red Ant: The video version, and yeah, YouTube has it's moments, Thank You very much.

(Ages) Who 1 bombed this? Scandalous! You made this heavy (cream) work heavy indeed, nice changeover in the verses from simple ice cream descriptions leading to the addict's story. (Note for future reference: "spiel", not "speel"). 555
Jake A Ralphing (Luke Brattoni) - January 10, 2009 - Report this comment
(Ages) You pretty much nailed this one, plenty of icecream and pop culture references. Well done.
Matthias - January 10, 2009 - Report this comment
Can't wait for the recording of this one! This was pretty much an epic, "I Love Rocky Road". All around brilliant!

(Ages2) Wait, there's different versions to this song? No wonder I had trouble singing along to the version I have. Whatever. Great story here, Dave, 555 scoops for you!

AGES...ah...a man after my own heart. I worked at Baskin Robbins in high school and have been an ice cream lover ever since. This was awesome!

(Ages) Yum! Wow! Whew! Superb detail. Great storytelling. 5-5-5. (And who "1-bombed" this, as Agri said? It's not even political!)
Invisible Boy - January 25, 2009 - Report this comment
Superb artery-clogging fun, Dave.
I've been to the Ben and Jerry's plant in Vermont. Next to the factory is a cemetery with headstones inscribed with the names of the flavors that are no longer produced...weird, but true

(Ages) Now this could be a really fun karaoke song. The crowd will know it, look at you funny when you sing your words, then laugh the whole way through. Great choice :)

[ABC] I thought this parody was excellent. You certainly know your ice cream, lol. 5 scoops of chocolate, 5 scoops of vanilla, and 5 scoops of strawberry for you.

I C Y this got so many votes and comments. I don't know a lot of people who do not like Ice Cream. Only one problem - I read this so fast that I got an Ice Cream headache. Nice write here BAD.

This was excellent in capturing the "flavor" of the OS; many good references - from different name nrands to Mexican for fried ice cream. Great job.

This was a pretty great idea and I can't believe that "Ice Cream" hasn't been done to "Ice Ice" before now. See above twice for my further comments.

(ABC) Great concept!...I thought the idea of a streetwise rapper going on about ice cream was hilarious!...especially liked the "bell peppers" line! (BTW, was "memorized" in the line above that supposed to be "mesmerized?)...Super attention to detail!!!...555!!!
Red Ant - June 25, 2009 - Report this comment
You know my connection is still spotty right now so I can't listen to TOS and review this, but that may be a good thing here. =) Great idea and well served.
