The Lyrics

Go read The Odyssey.
Hello Miss Athena,
Can I have your blessing
Cause it's cold cold cold
On the deep blue sea
Scylla and Charybdis
Sometimes her, sometimes her friend
He's a gigantic whirlpool
That will your journey end...

Hello Miss Athena,
Ran into some confusion with a Mrs. Penelope
Horny suitors staying on
They think she's Paris Hilton
Or a classical keg-party
And meanwhile...

Figure it out, Hel!
He is the son of Nestor, And Tele- machus with him, Is son of Ulysees, ...
Figure it out, Hel!
They're looking for his father
Their mother burying him prematurely for
Those men...
Note: 'Hel' is short for Helen of Troy. Get your mind out of the gutter.

Made more sense than Tori Amos's original!

Perniegirl - Nice job! I gave you "5-5-5" Not too many folks here know too many Tori Amos songs as far as I can tell (or they can't figure out what they mean). I happen to like her quite a bit. I normally wouldn't use her stuff for parodies but I happened to use "Mr. Zebra" about a month back to vent a bit on CA new Governor Schwarzenneggar's campaign smear of one of the women who accused him of a " groping" incident from some years back. Happens that I know the women, though I haven't seen her in years. Anyway. If you are interested it's "I Am Governor Schwarzenegger" Parody by Paul Robinson. If you click on the title "Mr. Zebra" that appears at the top of this page it will show your current parody and then mine.

Did Tori really have 80s stuff? I thought she released her first album in the 90s; maybe she had some obscure stuff before then that I'm not aware of.

You're right, Question. The original was from the 90s.

Tori did have 80s stuff, in 1988 she released an album called "Y Kant Tori Read". I don't think this is from that album. Of course decade whining is forbidden here too.

No it's not. But I believe you now about "Y Kant Tori Read."

Paul- Yes, I saw your parody of this song and I was completely thrilled that someone else had heard of it! (I was scared that no one would recognize the original). I like yours a lot, and I agree, Tori songs shouldn't be parodied in a mean way. I was studying for a test on the Odyssey and bits of this just kept floating through my head until I wrote it down. Thanks for the votes :) -PG

FYI - "Mr. Zebra" was originally on Tori Amos's "Boys For Pele" album from around 1995-1996. It also appears on her current release "Tales of A Librarian" (2003). Tori fronted a group in about 1987/1988 that did "Y Tori Kant Read" It is for the most part best forgotten. She was trying to be a "Pat Benatar"-type; electric guitar instead of piano...

There ya go then, Paul. That proves that "Mr Zebra" is from the 90s. You are absolutely right about "Y Kant Tori Read" -- as mentioned above.
Oh well... so the parody author made a mistake. We all do sometimes. :)

Yeah, sorry about the wrong decade. I must have hit the wrong number, or not cared or something :) Please 'xcuse! -PG
