The Lyrics

This song is about the know-it-alls, the armchair generals, the gossipers. They haven't been around anywhere or experienced or witnessed anything yet they always 'have all the answers' to everything and still know NOTHING. They believe everything they are told, spoon-fed. They question nothing and choose to be ignorant yet are always looking for somebody or a certain group of people to talk trash about and an excuse to do so. We have all seen and known these types. They think they are macho, informed, cool but are fools. We know them in school, places of worship, clubs, college, jobs, neighborhoods, families, radio and media podcasts, any old place. Every place has got one. Blabba-blabba-blabba.
You talk gossip and trash once again today
It's the same old thing as yesterday
You are always flapping your lippy chops
You run your motormouth and it just won't stop

I have stood here before hearing all of your crap
With your vast lack of knowledge coming from your yap
I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this rant
But it's your destiny to be ignorant

You talk gossip and trash once again today
(Why don't you shut up?)
It's the same old thing as yesterday
(Why don't you shut up?)
You are always flapping your lippy chops
(Why don't you shut up?)
You run your motormouth and it just won't stop
(Why don't you shut up?)

I have stood here before hearing all of your crap
With your vast lack of wisdom coming from your yap
I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this rant
But it's your destiny to be ignorant

You close your eyes, ears, and mind but never your mouth
(Why don't you shut up?)
You're always talking about people you don't even know
(Why don't you shut up?)
You're so oblivious to others' needs
(Why don't you shut up?)
The tape in your head runs at starship speed
(Why don't you shut up?)

I have stood here before hearing all of your crap
With your vast lack of wisdom coming from your yap
I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this rant
But it's your destiny to be ignorant

Sit in the easy chair bitching all day long
Watch the TV news and then you just sing along
Hate and violence you're the gleeful starfuck
Easy answers, buy them you're so starstruck

Butt-kisser

Always talking about things that you don't know
(Why don't you shut up?)
You cannot see beyond your own nose
(Why don't you shut up?)
You ain't matured a day since high school days
You believe everything that someone else says

I have stood here before hearing all of your crap
With your vast lack of wisdom coming from your yap
I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this rant
But it's your destiny to be ignorant

Butt-kisser
Butt-kisser
Butt-kisser
You'll always be a yes-man
You'll always be a yes-man
You'll always be a yes-man
You'll always be a yes-man
You'll always be a yes-man
You'll always be a yes-man
A classic from The Police, from their 1983 album 'Synchronicity'.
