I am sitting
in a Skytrain
with my platoon,
Band of Brothers -
and I'm checking
my equipment
as the flak
gets thick and intense

It is half a'past
the midnight
as we're getting
close to drop zone
and the monotonous
engine roar
is filling up my mind -

Now jumpmaster
- he's Dick Winters -
asks the pilot
when we'll get there
I can see the
flak a-bursting
and I know
the Jerry's down there

and I'm waiting
for the signal
when the red light
on the bulkhead
will turn green
and then I know
it's time to hook
the static line -

I am memorizing
mission we have
been assigned
for D-day
it's to capture
Carentain and
secure all
the nearby bridges

for the landings
hitting beaches
three of them
assigned to British
and the Utah Beach
and Omaha
are for the
Uncle Sam -

I am looking
at the faces
of the buddies
of my platoon
It's our baptizment
of fire
as we jump
into the midnight

I can see
we are excited
and we are
a wee bit nervous
'cause we all know
this time's for real
that's we've been
training for -

Now the pilot
turns the engines down
and red light
has turned green -
and Dick Winters
calls out numbers
and we all get up
and hook up

and he opens up
the jump door
one by one
we shuffle there
and jump into
the darkness
it's now my time
and here I go-o-o-o-o-o-o!
