Parody Song Title:

"Goodbye OJ"

Parody Written by:

Mark Scotti

The Lyrics

It was an early morning yesterday,
OJ' was up before the judge
And she handed him a prison stay,
Which settles Goldman's grudge

Like a back without a football,
Like a dog without a bone,
Deprived of all your freedom,
For the actions that you've shown

We don't believe in what you say,
We all understand the truth
And justice finally came our way,
Like pulling a bad tooth

Like a crime without the guilty,
Like a head without a brain,
No more trophy's to be owning,
Except the prison one's you've made

And we will go on living,
Living freedom and so proud,
And you've run out of all chances,
Til 9 long years from now

Goodbye OJ, sentenced nice,
Now your cell is, paradise,
We've all seen your, darker side,
Now your cellmate, is your bride

Goodbye OJ, goodbye Juice,
Never see you, on the loose
Feel so guilty, feel some shame
Now your actions, get all the blame....

Man this parody is the bomb and you are the hit. Couldn't have been written any better and that is the truest hit I have ever seen. It is refreshing to see parodies that not only have good wordplay but also the ones that are heartfelt and real.

" . . .never see you on the loose " nice line for the memory of ~OJ~ running loose in airports!

Thanks, Nick & norCal! I had a great canvas(OJ) to work with, and the words came fast and furious to me...

I'm glad that O.J. Simpson finally got thrown behind bars since (I hope I don't start a flamewar here) he got away with murder almost scot-free, and he deserves every minute of what the judge sentenced him to. The parody was great and very worthy of 5s.

Parody #2 here, eh? Pretty good parody, and I can tell you've grown quite a bit already as a parody writer. 455

ABC- Nice work, never heard the original before this, but great job!
Mark Scotti - June 07, 2010 - Report this comment
Thanks, Abbott. It's a pretty good Supertramp song...

(ABC G & H) I already voted, albeit from my previous IP address, so I won't vote again. But the parody has aged well, and Orenthal James Simpson is a good parody subject: controversial, yet like such things as Watergate, the Scopes Monkey Trial and Prohibition, not generally regarded as a touchy subject by most people. 5s.
Andria - June 08, 2010 - Report this comment
Oops... didn't mean to bring up 5s when I voted previously from a different IP. :-)

it's not bad, OJ is ruining the name of Orange Juice

(ABC GH) Didn't know that OJ was in jail, though considering my I-live-under-a-rock status this isn't surprising. 555 for you, sir!
Matthias - June 12, 2010 - Report this comment
The news is a bit ancient, and I never really get into news story parodies because of that reason. This isn't too bad because the story of OJ Simpson is a classic one but still.... Not one of my favorites from you.
Christie Marie M - June 12, 2010 - Report this comment
(ABC G/H) Brings back memories of the OJ Simpson case. The juice is no longer loose where he'll be staying. But where's Al Cowlings when you need him? If he ever read this one, he would say things like: "I'm OJ's friend and he's innocent", or something like that. Classic 555's!

Thanks to bobpie, Matthias, and Christie!!!
Jeff Reuben - June 14, 2010 - Report this comment
Interesting, I guess the timing was around the Florida incident, when he finally went to jail for good (and of course bringing up his fun from the past).
Warren Baker - June 14, 2010 - Report this comment
(ABC G/H) Like millions of other Americans, I bought Breakfast in America, and a year later sold it! This was an interesting song on the album, but you've made it much better with your parody. This could have been a very dark parody, but you kept it from going there. Nice one.
DJ Blaze - June 14, 2010 - Report this comment
I perfectly agree with Warren. This was a hard-to-do subject executed very well. 555
