"Goodbye Napster"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

I wrote this a while back, just before Napster was about to be shutdown. Even though we have Kazaa and Morpheus, it just doesn't seem the same...Those were the good old days - No 911, daily terror reports, Nasdaq at 4000...Oh well, enjoy.
It was an early morning yesterday
I was up before the dawn
I had to get these songs today -
Soon Napster would be gone

Get a song without a hassle
Like Queen and Beatles tunes
I'm an early morning user
It would all be ending soon . . .

Now normally I'm glad to pay -
For my music - that's truth
But Napster gave us a great way -
To find the music of my youth

Like Cheap Trick and "Surrender"
Like The Police and "King of Pain"
Just the thought of losing Napster
Sent a shiver through my veins

And I will go on buying -
CD's that are brand new
But for finding certain music
I'll have trouble with a few...

(whistle here if you want)

Goodbye Napster it's been nice
Find a song and - click it twice
Tried to see your point of view
Hope you don't get - your ass sued
Goodbye MP, Goodbye Three (mp3)
It took off 'caus, it was free
I Feel sorrow, and some shame
Come tomorrow, I must pay

Some they'll block and some they don't
Some are just misspelled
Some they will and some they won't
And some they'll try to sell

But I laugh at their behavior
That'll never come to be -
Nothing can save Napster
From the record business greed

But I will go on sharing
By using something new
and they'll never, ever stop us
Our troubles will be few

Goodbye Napster it's been nice
Find a song and - click it twice
Tried to see your point of view
Hope you don't get - your ass sued
Goodbye MP, Goodbye Three (mp3)
It took off 'caus, it was free
I Feel sorrow, and some shame
Come tomorrow, I must pay

I found this using the random button. ONE comment? One? Sheesh. I thought Patrick Y captured what Napster meant to its frequenters pretty well. Of course, the songs of MY youth predated his by about 20 years, but it's all relative :)
